Seems like some places put on their applications no felony in last 5 yrs , 3 yrs etc...

I always like reading the qualifications for each company I am interested in and it seems like that is always listed along with a good driving record like no DWI in last 5 yrs or so.
    Maybe just check the application.

You can get a local job with a felony. It will be harder than if you didn't have it, but it is possible. If you have a clean record since then, good MVR, and verifiable experience and a good work history, you should have no problem finding a local job if you try hard enough. You have to make phone calls, go into companies in person, talk to people, don't just apply online. Also, what is your location so maybe people can give you leads

Thanks for all the input from everyone here, I am in the Flint Michigan area. I've had some offers so far, most seem to be interested in the MVR as far as records go. Local is exactly what I'm looking for, i been finding companies that want me for OTR though. What would be a decent pay for an OTR gig, Mon thru Friday, home weekends?

Good luck with the M-F home weekends! Not saying they aren't out there, but they sure aren't plentiful. I can't speak to the current pay scales.

There are certainly different levels of felonies. Hence Class A etc. Hell as far as public opinion goes, some misdemeanors are more serious than some felonies. Then there's the class I'm quite certain many here probably fall into but don't admit.. That's Class NC. Never caught. So before some of you get all high and mighty you might want to look in the mirror and ask yourself if you're really that innocent. No, I'm not a felon. Just sayin....

Greatwide that hauls for Walmart. Any container company. A 10 yr old felony is not going to stop you from 97% of jobs....

I am not perfect and neither is my record. I have openly admitted that several times on here and i dont sugar coat anything. I also dont make excuses for my past behaviors.

Yeah i wouldn't volunteer any information if not necessary ,but don't lie if asked ,you're not missing much by not going OTR ,there's no $ in it anymore anyway ....try applying at some LTL companies as a dock worker with a cdl in back pocket looks good on any LTL outfit ,eventually you will be doing some yard dog ( switcher ) and then work up to a P&D position in a day cab .....apply only at solid companies like : ABF ,UPSF ,RYC and such ....these jobs start at around $18 hrly with affordable healthcare ,paid holidays, vacations & paid sick days or pension plans , something worth looking into if you're not afraid to work & get paid for it ......home every night or day
