You jest, but I had a kid apply to be a lifeguard who was allergic to chlorine. He didn't think he would have to get in the water.

Not to mention all the kids who show up to training that DON"T KNOW HOW TO SWIM. The district manager always wondered why I didn't advertise for the snack bar - I always had more than enough lifeguard washouts to staff it.

if you are able to accept certain locations and deal with it, why not just accept it at all locations at all times?

also super interested in sources on these so called countries that have accepted this condition as an illness and not a mental disorder.

If you’re under 150 ? Miles from home terminal you don’t need a ELD

sounds like you need to drive a log truck or something .

or find some company with older rigs .

Why the need for ‘more recruitment’? There’s way more drivers now, than what’s needed. This so called ‘driver shortage’ we’ve hearing about for the past two decades, is just a marketing gimmick by the those that benefit from over supply of drivers.

Well, I am going to tell you the harsh truth about all of this.

Whatever you come up with, you have to understand I actually know a lot about this issue and how trucks work.

To start with you can't shield yourself from RF radiation by just putting on a rf blocking film on the windows in the truck. A newer truck is made up of a number of panels made out of composite materials and unless you want to buy, gut, and rebuild the truck's cab, not to mention to shield the electrical system, you won't be protected. Just the use of Radar systems on trucks and cars will cause problems and RF blocking film will not work because RF radiation penetrates through the sides of the sleeper, even through the doors and other parts of the cab.

The modern truck has a lot of RF radiation that the driver is exposed to, much of it is in the form of ultrasonics (it is the correct term for this type of radiation). Some of the really utilitarian trucks like the Cascadia are prone to this problem, which is evident when people install third-party equipment like stereos and such. In order for that RF radiation to be mitigated, the truck literally has to be disassembled and put back together using foil-type sound-deadening material which is "grounded" through a crimping process to ensure proper shielding.

The ELD or the integrated ELD with other items (satellite communications systems) normally use external antennas or could be used with external antennas so these are not an issue.

SO my suggestion is this forget driving a truck for now.

I would start looking at hauling RV trailers.

    Why?

Because you can talk a company into using an older pickup like my Dodge 3500 12 valve to be used as a tow vehicle, they are around, a lot of clean ones are for sale and they are easy to go through to make into a proper tow vehicle. Get a manual one, pull the drive train computer out of it, put an external regulator on the alternator, and go driving hauling trailers.

Another alternative is to buy a van and go haul expedited freight for one of the large companies, this allows you to build up a pretty good shielded vehicle to your specs and make money going all over the country.

See it isn't the problem of you driving a truck, it is what others have said, we have too many drivers, and being we have too many good drivers out there and this isn't a place where accommodations take place for some medical reason as the norm, you will have a hard time finding someone willing to take the truck off line for you to modify it for work that you may not be able to do in the long run.

I was just thinking about how they’d de activate the Bluetooth that every vehicle has now .
And the onstar , do vehicles still have that ?

and doesn’t a cell phone create some issues ?

if your cell phone has a signal then you’re getting hammered with the signal radiation from the tower .

And I agree , a sprinter van that has lead or whatever kind of shielding you need , installed inside , would be the way to go .

do spark plugs and alternators cause an issue ?
They sure mess up the AM radio when I’m trying to listen to the grand ole opry on 650 AM on Friday night .

    I was gonna suggest that

but occasionally you gotta key up the microphone and talk on a radio

when I worked for them my radio call sign was LWH-7
    Base station was KKN-1300
Dunno how many watts it put out but idling , you could hear the engine slow down when you started talking on the radio .
