Sounds like a good plan. The only downside buying an old Truck, is having to spend money on it, almost always more than it’s worth. Then needing to keep it longer to justify the repair costs. Same reason you often see Trucks for sale w/ 1-2 yr. old inframes. Truck was paid for, then blew the engine. Usually the seller can’t wait to get rid of the Truck. Whoever buys it, will spend plenty on everything else. By the time they go through replacing everything else, it’s time for another inframe. Good thing you don’t have payments Lol. The real savings finally start to show up a couple years later, maybe 6 years after buying the Truck. That’s been my experience anyway. If planning on upgrading soon. Better to just bite the bullet, skip the older Truck. Start with the one you plan on eventually buying. Small payment maybe. Still a lot less than the repairs, lack of resale, and overall time wasted and money spent on the cheap ( not so cheap ) Truck.

There’s a reason many get full inspection at the border if you know what I’m getting it .. a lot of those callers run team and do over 25,000 miles a month using imported drivers at slave wages . It’s a crazy business model but the few wins they get keep them going .Long FLD and NorthEastTrucker Thank this.
