I'm not sure with who you are going to be driving for, but for the most part. You won't be needing to drive all your 11, and unless you know it will be parking available. I wouldn't push it much past my 10. Also if it's night time and you are planning on taking a break close to a big city. You probably won't find parking in a truck stop. So you might want to try rest area's and as you said wal mart's or something. The rest area's will also be full, but sometimes you can park in the shoulder area or on the exit or get on ramp with the other drivers. Your trainer will go over a lot of this stuff and you will see how it works. Nothing to get overly anxious about.

I forgot to mention DOT said it was illegal to have the leather lanyard on my "tire knocker".Said, the ability to lock it around your wrist made it a weapon ,not a tool.Rookies,I said "ok I'll remove it,never did.

Try not to make any additional stops in these bad areas. Try to find a safe, public place if you are early and your destination is in a bad area. Some places (definitely NOT Ontario, Ca) trucks can park in a shopping mall where there are security patrols.
As far as weapons go, the MOST importer thing is that whatever weapon that you use MUST be legal. In other words, it has to be something LEGAL for self defense like pepper spray, or something that a driver would typically carry. I say this because if you carry, say, a meat cleaver, and you hurt someone while defending yourself with it, you are going to jail. Now if you kept a short chain that another truck can pull you if you were stuck or needed a pull start, and you hurt someone while defending yourself that is a different story.
So what can you carry? The simplest is mace and either a crowbar or a pipe. You can inflict a lot of damage with scissors, a hammer, a screwdriver, one of those electrical testers that is sharp like an icepick, etc. If you are out of the truck, you can use whichever key is sharpest between your middle and index finger.
Keep your phone charged and with you at all times, and next to you as you sleep. You will always fare better when help is on the way.
It's common sense, but don't carry a lot of cash, especially on your person. When you do go into the convenience store bring one single 5 or 10 dollar bill. If you get robbed, fork over the remaining three dollars.
Clean out your wallet. Put your license with your logbook. Hide your credit card somewhere, but keep stuff in there like reward cards, credit cards (they won't stop to check the date), so that if they take your wallet, it still FEELS full. DO NOT carry any sensitive documents like ss card, etc.
If you are really freaked out and you can idle, disconnect the trailer. If anything seems funny, quietly put it into gear and get out of there. You can move alot faster without the trailer, and they are probably after the freight anyway, not you.
Obviously, not all of this may be applicable to your situation, but you get the idea. Be safe, and good luck.Heysunshine Thanks this. -
One can of this stuff will take down a whole parking lot full of gang bangers from 30 feet away, it's made to stop a grizzly bear in it's tracks.

Dude the only fight you probably going to come close to having is when you pull in front of a bunch of steering wheel holders waiting for somebody to move out the fuel island. If they say something to you. Just tell them you a member of the chicken haulers express club. We have 1st dibs at all fuel islands this side of the Pacific
Yeeee hawww

lol dude last thing I'm scared of is a fight I just asked that because all the truckers I know only has ever have mentioned anything about weapons and he said he had a gun but never used it but that he has flashed it a few times in new York city getting beggars off the side of his truck now I don't know if that is true are not just what he told me lol

I heard that one too. Did he tell you about the time he was hauling money for the government. Went into the scale house and the scale master wanted to open his trailer. Either he made a call or out of no where black helicopters and suburbans came out of no where. US. Marshalls and arrested the scale master. If you haven't you will at a truck stop counter or driver's longe in the future. I won't lie I bought it hook line and sinker.
HotH2o Thanks this.
