My personable opinion is NOT to carry any firearms, bladed weapons as swords or long knifes, or deadly aerosols. The truck driver has more to fear from the legal system than the criminals, possibly a LONG prison sentence.

My main job was as a real estate field service tech from 2010-2014. I worked with very little supervision and it was a lot of fun overall. I had a fluctuating inventory of 70- 100 empty "repo" properties a week to visit and inspect for FNMA, Corelogic, and other asset managers. They were sprinkled all over eastern Virginia and North Carolina. Some of these units were in the "wild wild west" areas of Newport News, Hampton, Portsmouth, and Norfolk. I was confronted inside a house by copper thieves once, and local thugs on other occasions while drilling out locks. Bitten by a dog once, and chased a few other times. The local police used to lecture me politely, and out of concern because I didn't have a firearm on me. I did end up carrying concealed the last 3 years, and I hated it. I really loved the job overall, but I quit this past November partially because of needing a gun for protection. You can believe me when I say that concealed carry gets old pretty darn fast. I got hired recently as a maintenance supervisor........pretty darn boring, but all I have to carry now is a few tools.

Hi 19km, I guess my 1st question would be, are you a woman? 2nd, have you had problems before or just want to be ready, just in case. Heavy tools aren't really much help, as a perp will see that coming and possibly get the jump on you, which is why a spray of some sort is best. Starting fluid in the eyes will get their attention, and it's something that is in a truck anyway. I've never needed any kind of protection, but admit, it's been a while since I have been out there and things have gotten worse. Pick your rest stops carefully. Unattended rest areas would be the worst. Walking a long distance at night in a truck stop too. I would think perps would be checking you out before they make a move, so always be aware of someone watching you or a car driving around a truck stop. They pray on the weak or inattentive.

I was thinking the same, that's why I gave the keys in hand/makeshift brass knuckles. It's not an easy one to see if you're the perp until it's hit you.

Why, are you expecting Charlie to spring an ambush on you? No responsible firearm owner would own a Glock, or get near a Glock.

Yes, I know it's a favorite of LE, but LE just happens to be the largest organized US group of irresponsible firearm owners (and motor vehicle operators), and they prove it almost every day.
