No! No! No apology needed.. They need to do this at sni. I'll admit outright that I know little about my actual truck as in the specifications, BUT when I have a chance to learn about it I refuse to not learn about it.

It's a good soap box. It's a truthful soap box. It irritates me that sni spends so much money on emergency maintenance when all it would take is a little driver education...

I can see this being a great idea in dangerous places like mines and radioactive sites where access is controlled. People on the ground know what's going on and what to expect. On city streets and highways, I am reluctant to accept it. There are too many random possibilities.

    Holy @#$%

I just realized that a automated robotic truck can used as a unmaned drone to deliver a nuke or dirty bomb to a city or area and no one would even question it and where it is going and coming from.

    Or even stop it.

    WOW... that is nuts.

At least the horse knew where it was going and did not need no gps system to get there.
Many a drunk got home safely due to the smartness of the horse known where home was too and where the feed bucket and water was too.
    They were the days.

I dont understand how self driving semis open and close doors, drop trailers, get washouts, repair flat tires, avoid crazy construction, etc. There will aways have to be someone there. Probably an $8 per hour illegal alien. Why would the OP say its a good thing for a computer to replace jobs that this economy needs? I know which party he votes for.

This isn't the political section. Just a friendly reminder.

I think we all agree that this is an unfortunate job opportunity for steering wheel holders. It could just as easily be said that it's a job opportunity for mobile mechanics. Though some of us already repair our own trucks...

Is it a good thing? I can't say. I can't say it's a bad thing either. It's just as easy to point and say it's the lazy man's job as it is to point and say it's a pretty awesome leap in technology.

cars can already do it. There are simple answers for all the questions you pose. It will happen. Maybe 30-50 years but it is coming. Insurers will refuse to insure humans.
