Self-driving trucks delivering freight in AZ

Is that before or after they create self driving trains - that already move on designated rail tracks? and still crash? and kill people?

 

They will always have drivers to take over when the truck gets to the delivery. Too many intangibles to overcome, so a live person will have to negotiate, for many years at least. The first step will be to eliminate drivers riding along, and just take over when they get there.

 

Most train accidents are from engineers going too fast. A computer would know better. Why auto braking is not in place is beyond me. Can't take curves at 80.

 

Uber has stopped all self driving car testing, due to the recent death of a pedestrian by a self driving car in AZ. Seems their computer cant recognize a human unless they are in a crosswalk. Self driving trucks will do as much damage as a self driving car.

 

Actually they will do more because they weigh more

 

So you ride around as an observer as the electric truck
goes down the road ?

Wonder what the pay is ?

 

And crazy enough there was a driver in that car but the car was in self drive mode.
Imagine being a monitor driver in a self driving truck an literally seeing a train wreck about to happen and not be able to assume control of the vehicle fast enough to stop it.

 

Maybe he was texting while riding....?
