Depends on your perspective. Safety Director? "Completely preventable, I want to see him hung by his balls with a piano string until dead".

Real world- "I never imagined that a 77,500 lb truck would jacknife because I slowed with the engine brake in the rain".

Yes they do. Did you ever have a bad day?

With two years experience?? Evidently you didn't read the previous posts... he is a solo driver on the company side.

Jack knife with the jakes on? Probably. One of the stories did say the bears were still investigating whether he was cut off. Now that might make sense...

    Perhaps at your carrier...

I'm sure he did... now the driver may not have had the time to double check the status of his engine brake before starting emergency braking though. Just exactly what goes through your mind when one of these brain-dead four-wheelers veers in front of you and immediately slows down?

Of course its much easier to blame everything on the driver... especially if the name on the side of the truck involves 1) not your carrier, and 2) one with more than 10 trucks. Now if it was a carrier with less than ten trucks or an o/o all y'all would be screaming for the idiot who caused the poor unfortunate driver to crash... to be hung by his balls with piano wire... now wouldn't ya?

Here is an excellant example of what NOT to do.

A televison interview, explaining what happened in an accident.

Don't trucking still give out accident kits,

that include instructions on what NOT to say.......

Yup... they give out accident kits, but I don't think this guy looks like he's in any shape to be using one for awhile either. OTOH, I think the driver was subjected to an interview by a predatory news reporter. Between what little medication they were giving him for, and the pain he was in, I don't think the decision to talk to that reporter was made in the best frame of mind. It certainly wasn't in his best legal interest. Fortunately for all involved, there wasn't another motorist involved - which means that interview won't be used by an avaracious personal injury attorney against him.

Since when did a "jack-knifed" rig plow through a guard rail and launch onto the parallel street?

And why is it that so many believe that jakes "cause" a jack-knife scenario?

I have never seen any evidence that the jakes "cause" any such thing! Lots of rumor, hearsay, horror stories, and the like....but never any actual PROOF.....but I have participated in studies to disprove this hoax....generally promoted by Insurance adjusters and ambulance chaser attorneys!

From a local, I dispute that.....Fox 17 is the best of the four news groups in the GR area. They actuall treat people like people.
