Who said he was using his cruise control when that happened?

I assumed it because he was responding to a post about driving with the adaptive cruise control and auto braking, and said "Ask me how I know". But until it was clarified to me, I also assumed that the auto braking was only active with the cruise control on.

That just doesn't sound safe to me. They should at least have a way for you to disable it in inclement weather like snow, ice, or heavy rain. But then again, if it does it's job properly and doesn't lock the brakes, you can steer your way to the site of your accident....:)

Let's see. We have had ABS on tractor trailers for what 25 years. Almost every tractor and trailer now out there was originally equipped with it.
How many of them are not operational, or have brakes/slacks/bushings worn so the system is not performing to OEM specification? Or outright disconnected? And it is a fairly simple/reliable system, but still 20% of trucks inspected are put out of service for brake related problems.
What happens to even more sophisticated technology that needs to be calibrated regularly by qualified mechanics, who are in short supply.
Go ahead and bet on newer and more complicated technical answers to a very simple problem.
These kinds of crashes simply did not happen in these numbers 10 years ago. Let's find out why.

  8. That a Foreigner in the cascadia?
Could not zoom in enough and see what kind of CSA Wonderboy we're dealing with..
I hope if it is they do just like they did with numbnuts up there in New Hampshire before they send them back wherever he came from if that's the case.
I made for the love of God how many more of these kind of wrecks are we going to have until the feds realize CSA is an epic fail it keeps Certifying Stupid A-holes.
maybe they're waiting for next year when it makes a nice good rounded number 10 years of this nonsense??
again no surprise here for most of us professionals it's become a common occurrence sadly and it's just going to continue to go on it's almost disgusting..
open there's plenty of witnesses around so his Trucking career comes to an end he goes to jail for reckless vehicular homicide and that young 24 college students family gets paid well.
    this just makes me sick..
I bet if you forced about 50% of the CSA Wonder Boys to take their head out of their butt before they turn the key of their vehicle it would take him a week until they shot daylight at the crap cleared from their eyes

    Cam Roberts Thanks this.
  9. that's right it's making it easier to get in because we have a thing called CSA 2010.
I talk about it continuously every time there's a crash. Us old school professionals know why it was created we know the disgusting reason why it was created and we know why it's almost 10 years old!!!

    Cam Roberts Thanks this.
