Where have you gotten the med-lite trucks infor. The magazines telling about 1 ton pickups converting to propane, states 5-8 mpg increase.
There are other posts on here where guys claiming to gain 1-2 mpg on class 8 trucks and running 2000 miles on a tank. I've read half dozen guys stating this.
I've personally met Kevin Rutherford and do not beleive all the things he puts out. I've not heard anyone using a propane setup say they didn't get great increase in fuel economy.
I beleive it's a great idea and plan on installing one, once I get other things done first like engine rebuild. I'm leary of increasing power on an engine that has close to a million miles on it.

Excuse me, but who the heck is Kevin Rutherford , aside from some guy on a radio talk show on XM , that I've heard about , but don't have XM to listen to ? Is he a SuperTrucker , who spends 365 days on the road , and knows everything about everything ?
I don't know , just asking . -
The propane idea sounds good on paper, but a guy a used to run with actually took his off. he said most of the time it was possible to gain somewhere around .5 or so, but that was it. he said it was more hassel than it was worth.
its just like everything else, for example...air cell that goes in the intake or the turbo 3000,both are a joke and do not work.....they make it sound like it works, make up bunch of data to make their sales pitch with, and bam.....they have already made thousands of dollars off of guys just willing to spend money and try it out to see IF it really does work. if it doesn't, they still made their money off the guys that buy the kits. propane is prolly the closest one to actually seeing results, but I doubt 2mpg.
I guess it all boils down to if you feel like spending the money and hassle to gain maybe .5 to .8 miles per gallon. -
OP, I assume you've done your research on this topic?
When I look up a propane injection system, I see a lot of talk about how it destroys the engines, in the forms of first hand accounts.
Maybe start looking for other routes to conserve fuel economy, rather than a radical step like using propane to help the complete burning of fuel. -
you know. another thing that was once discussed also, was hydrogen., something about heating elements in a baking soda/water mixture.
but no mention of how much to make though. but supposedly it worked better then the propane idea. simple idea that's sucked into the air intake system. mixed in with the air before it hits the cylinder compression chamber. and burned with the fuel.
so you had a hydrogen, fuel, air mixture. -
The gimmicks air cell and turbo 3000 vada are just devices to extract money from idiots with low brain power. They don't work at all and aren't even based on any proven theories. -

K. I did a little checking on hydrogen a while back. Good idea IF you can meter it properly. Hydrogen ignites so fast and hot , you need ceramic pistons. I believe carrying a hydrogen tank of any size requires placards. Where you gonna get it filled ?
Same problem with nitrous . It'll do the trick, but you'd probably use up a small tank on one 7 mile , 5 or 6 % grade .
Any of these solutions will work, but are any cost-effective ? The propane sounds the best , if , and I do mean if a 20 lb. tank of it will last that long. At least it can be refilled somewhat conveniently.
Back when , the easy way to boost HP, and give you more oomph on a pull, was to add 10% kerosene to a tank of fuel. Most TS sold it then, too. Kept your fuel from gelling. I put too much in once. Ran like a striped-### ape for about 300 miles. Then a rod started knocking. I got her home, but that was an expensive mistake !
