1099 is not the 1st choice, but if you know your responsibility regarding taxes, etc. It's what some start out with when they have trouble getting hired the regular way as a company driver. Just don't do a lease.imataloss Thanks this.

@imataloss --
Schneider veteran here....
Your story is very frightening....on so many levels.

Please tell us -- what CDL school did you graduate from?
How many hours is it rated?
-- L -
Yes, I know... I've been regretting. It was just my stupid mistake so I do not want to disclose the name of the school, so my mistakes do not give them bad impression. They did good job and other students were just fine.
Did regular 160 hours plus more practice time between graduation and the date of skills test.
We used International day cab but flightliner sleeper I drove at Schneider was so different -
Stupid mistake?
If my read of the "tea leaves" here is anything close to correct.....A LOT of stupid mistakes were made (& not just by you)....long before you got behind the wheel at Schneider!!!

TripleSix Thanks this. -
Maybe. I do not know how to make everything right. I wonder.. if trucking is not for me are there any jobs outside of trucking that CDL A would help?
I would imagine by "a lot of mistakes not just by you" you mean
my choice of this career/ people around me not stopping me choose this career / school instructor's not failing me/ DMV not failing me etc.Last edited: Jun 30, 2024
PaulMinternational Thanks this. -
The bottom line:
Someone with very little experience at:
- the English language
- driving American streets & roadways
- recognizing/understanding/acting correctly on US road signs

Suggestion: spend a few years driving a regular, 4-wheeled vehicle (go inexpensive, at first)....on US streets & highways....BEFORE chasing a CDL job.
BONUS POINTS: If you start out driving...mostly in more rural/less urban areas.
Meanwhile: practice/work on your mastery/fluency of the English language. Be sure you can read/recognize/understand ALL common road signs used in the US.
I suggest the above because:
- it will probably save someone's life (including your own)
- you will very likely have a much more successful, satisfying CDL career -- later on
- especially for new CDL holders -- the CDL job market is terrible right now; you would save yourself further disappointments/failures in the near future
Hope springs eternal, as they say....
Think about it.

I may be mistaken, but it seems as if you do not have much driving experience, even in a car.
1. The road signs (although most people don’t see road signs)
2. Switching lanes in an intersection.
3. Backing Up in traffic. (That’s what got you fired. They had to fire you for that. Bad idea. Bad decision. Really bad.)
Your problem will be, even if you get another job, they’re going to road test you first thing. If you don’t have much experience driving a car, how are you going to be able to learn enough about driving, traffic laws…etc to pass a road test in a commercial vehicle?
@gentleroger any comments?gentleroger and imataloss Thank this. -
Any of you military guy’s know of a system like the OODA Loop system that will help OP in decision making?
-
Back up should not be done, I knew that
I DID NOT back up by my decision - it was more of I created a situation where the truck had to back up (the instructor helped me back up safely).
Well, I think this is bad any wayTripleSix Thanks this.
