It was years ago on the show America's most wanted. But the story was about a lady that was found in a river or a lake somewhere. And they were saying on the show that more than likely the young lady was a lizard that was kidnapped by a driver. Then offed by the driver and thrown out his sleeper door over the bridge into the water.
I couldn't imagine it at the time. But seeing some of these guys, yea they look like straight up serial killers. Not sure what may lead a driver to do things like that. But some of these drivers are true metal cases!!!

My wife was mentioning the other day about how her colleagues where she works at the hospital doesn't think highly of us truckers. To much negative news and videos like this doesn't shine a good light on truckers. Without us North American doesn't move yet, there's never much truck stops in major city locations only on the outter parts of towns sometimes with limited amenities. The respect for the trucker as a career is gone.
Trucking films and tv shows like these ones puts a bad stigma on truckers.

"The respect for the trucker as a career is gone."
And drivers brought it on themselves. I have been out of it a long time. I saw guys I ran with age, retire, or quit the industry. They were replaced by a generation that were not the "Men" that used to drive. They have/accepted lower standards of themselves and their bosses/dispatchers/ dock workers/owners.
Two examples here ..
When I backed a trailer into the door at Kroger in Cincinnati once, I refused to unload /off load shrubbery to pallets.
Closed my doors, pulled to street, called the yard, was told stay in hearing distance of the phone. 20 minutes later I answered and was directed 300 mile away to a receiver who was happy to unload.
I am asleep in the J.T, Garrard bunkhouse at 5:00 AM one morning. I was awakened by "Mr. Thomas" himself (Son Jimmy Garrard usually dispatched) kneeling by my bed and in a quiet voice asked. "Roger, could I get you to run up to Port Huron and pick up a load of Jerseys for the college?' I said yes, be glad to Mr Thomas. He replied: "Go fuel up and I will bring you some money."Hour later I'm enroute to Port Huron, MI
Facts here. He always paid me for every mile ran he charged a shipper for. His checks never bounced. You told the shop your needs and they were handled. If they could not do an obvious fix, they got you to come up and discuss, and then Davis get in it with you and you demonstrate.
It seemed to be understood, the Garrard truck would be there ready go, you be ready to load. Same on unload. Reasonable was on both sides.
Over the time I was there, a driver of two gave a shipper some lip. That driver got checked up the minute he parked coming back, paid in cash and a cab called for him if needed. Two drivers might mention some difficulty at a place, Mr Thomas talked with them.Sometime an employee there left and some time we never had a truck for their needs.
Drivers then commanded respect by their appearance, manners and respect for others. You have it or you don't.MidwestResident, TripleSix, Flat Earth Trucker and 5 others Thank this. -
They start the story out " Murderous Truckers prowling the Highways". Fear mongering at its best.

(((30 * 5) / 10) - 2) + 13 = 26
Took me 2.5 mins...
30x5=150
150/10=15
15-2=13
13+13=26
(((30 / 10) * 5) - 2) + 13 = 26 works also
Question on the rules. out of curiosity, does the exponent have to be one of the 5 numbers? Like 10^3 for example (3 isnt on the list). Im assuming it does. And if so, what about square root? Would that count as the 2?Last edited: Mar 30, 2025

Your two are functionally identical. If we wrote dividing by 10 as multiplying by .1, those are just commutative arrangements.
I would argue using an exponent that's not on the list would be a no-go, but using the 2 for square root is fair game. By convention the 2 is implied if there's no root by the radical, but writing it with the 2 is completely permissible.broke down plumber and MidwestResident Thank this. -
Yes, I know they are basically the same. But they ARE different

And I would also assume that exponents would have to be in the set of numbers, which is why I asked.broke down plumber and MidwestResident Thank this. -
I don't know the answer to your first question, sorry.
I'm not sure how the square root of one of those numbers would or could count as the 2.broke down plumber and MidwestResident Thank this. -
I think he was asking if we could use the 2 (&the radical) to get the square root of one of the other numbers. Suppose 25 & 2 were in the list of numbers, you could get 5 from those two numbers using 2 as the index with the radical and 25 as the radicand (I had to look that one up, couldn't remember what it was called)broke down plumber and MidwestResident Thank this.

I heard that there is one that backs over people that are behind him in the left turn lane in front of a pilot in Ocala Florida......
