Burned out, is still blown. Liner protrusion is out of spec and allowing compression past fire ring on head gasket. As @Big Road Skateboard mentioned.

@jamespmack Did you know of these updated protrusion specs of -.005 - .005? Along with the updated head gasket, and torque spec/method

I was out of the dealership before that happened. I used to cut everything below .002, but did not my engine.

Sorry, it looks bad, negative .005 to positive .005

No, my books are 20 years since updated. But anything that makes power and you want to live, we did .005. Fleet truck, company truck .003 was good enough. The bean counters upstairs didn't care, just make it run. I personally want .005-.006 on them. I personally would put 15.5 pistons in and forget the 16.5. Then add alittle fuel. This is not the mentality of fleets and why I'm no longer a fleet mechanic.

Not aware of head gasket change.

I'll see if I can find it. My specs may be a bit off.

    Showing -.005 to .003

Still have the timing circle tune up? Or valve overlap tune up?

They needed to update the fire ring, My 99 blew a gasket just out of warranty. Had a tiny amount of pitting on the sleeve, but was outside of the fire ring. Height was good. Probably should have replaced the cylinder, maybe cut block, since it blew again 285k later.
