I will be moving on, but not with driving. I can't get over how people treat women in the industry.

Or my company would give me a trip with 4 cold storage warehouse deliveries in a day and only 2 hours between each appointment and provide ZERO help when I reported that customer #1 has done nothing with their 3 pallets for the last 6 hours and customer #4 won't get their freight today because they will be closed before I get to stop #2. I got ZERO detention pay on the day with 10 plus hours of waiting and a lecture about the importance of keeping schedules.Gearjammin' Penguin, Another Canadian driver, Tiptoe1995 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Dispatcher to customer in Atlanta: Oh your load is going to be late because the driver overslept.
Dispatcher to driver: I need you to take this load to Atlanta. I just talked to the customer and they will stay open until you get there.
Driver to Dispatcher: there is nobody at this customer. The gate is locked and the sign says Receiving 6am -2 pm.Last edited: Oct 23, 2022

well let's see, give me a route i don't know, then tell me i must get back by 2PM and do another trailer live load...then the next day tell me the same old BS.
i "fixed" his service failure. i blocked the gate, dropped the trailer, threw the keys into a wooded area, walked over to a neighboring trucking company, got hired on the spot.
no one tells me i had a service failure for thier mistake, or BS.JC1971, Another Canadian driver, Tiptoe1995 and 1 other person Thank this. -

I appreciate all of the comments here. I've always known that none of this would be easy or rewarding. What I didn't expect was to the blame for everything else that happens. I had a spring brake failure a few months ago on a Sunday and the guy that took my call had the audacity to blame me for "always breaking down on Sunday's." 1200 a week isn't worth this garbage.

Something went bad wrong (breakdown/road closure/accident) you called the "boss" (whoever dispatched you) and made him aware.
Gave best estimate of finishing that load, hung up and handled it as discussed. Nothing else due until empty and ready for another.
Everybody down the line had been told what, when and why. There was no reason for any "conversation" with the driver at all.
But, most people back then knew what they were doing, and knew pretty well what you were capable of doing and it all meshed and
got the job done. Now it is whose fault it can be laid to, as long as it is not the one who messed up. He will lie out of it. No man up.Gearjammin' Penguin, Grubby#1, Boondock and 3 others Thank this.
