Hi guys! I have a few questions on setting up Terrance’s (my husbands) truck. He’ll be done with training in a few weeks and will be on his own with his own truck. What basics should I start looking to get? We have a mini fridge already and they give him a new microwave. I know we’ll need a tv. What size do y’all recommend? Also how will Wi-Fi work? He will have smart tv and will eventually have a gaming system so what is our best WiFi option? Any advice will be helpful. We are new to this life and I want him to be comfortable and enjoy his free time.

don't worry about the tv or the gaming system or anything else, use your phones for entertainment because if you are new, FOCUS on driving for a while.

Just remember the more you pack in there the more you gota pack out when things don’t work out in 3 or 4 months

In Trucking, Free time isn't as free as most may think. As a OTR driver most Dispatchers want to keep drivers moving especially if that driver wants to make really money. Downtime usually consist of paperwork, routing your next trip and backhaul etc. In these inflation times best thing for any driver to do is run as hard as they can when the money is there and bank the most they can. I'm a O/o and still never set a t.v. up in my truck because I figured my lap top is good for an hour or 2 hrs max before getting a good night sleep. Money can always be made but time can never return once gone so I always suggest to any driver to make best of your time while in the truck.

Y'all need some bed sheets that's for sure. I don't keep much in my truck. I've got a flashlight, tools, all the necessary fluids, writing utensils, and a few notebooks. I still jot down load info. Other things I keep are dish soap in the summer time because it helps clean the bugs off the the wind shield. I keep alcohol in a spray bottle in the winter time. I spray the windshield, and door handles for extreme cold weather. I always have a lot of water in here, plus whatever foods I'll eat. You may want an air fryer, or other utensils for cooking. I watch tv on my tablet or phone. As for a tv, I think most drivers get a 32 in or smaller. Don't quote me on that though.

A cb especially since it's winter time. He can monitor channel.19 to hear if there are pileups ahead due to the winter weather and stop in plenty of time.

You should wait until he's in his assigned truck for a while. Let him decide what he needs or wants. I realize you are trying to help and be prepared, but unless says there's something he really needs ,I'd wait for now.
