Will the company be calling me? Or will they be using the Qualcomm?
I can figure out what is logging is, but do you use some kind of app? Or is it a specific app or machine that is supplied by the company?
Does anybody use the jetpack from Verizon for internet, and if so, how do you like it? I like to watch a movie every night, and I am spoiled by Netflix and Amazon Prime. I'm getting the impression that that might be kind of expensive.
Because of the above internet issue, I wondered if anyone knows where you can buy movies that you can download to your machine while you have wifi, and then watch it later. I'm sure they exist, but I have zero experience with them.
I do appreciate your time. Also, for the faint-hearted, I will likely be on the road on or after August 24th. This gives you plenty of time to find another job.

2,3,4, sorry. I run dedicated and don't need those. *we still run paper logs*Dreamboat Thanks this. -
Yes streaming movies will be very expensive if you do that. What you can do is buy a dvd of a movie or tv show and bring it with you. Some drivers will trade you too. No RedBox at the truck stops as far as I know. But you can rack up a lot of points on their reward cards and cash them in for DVD's. I know a few guys that buy Christmas presents with their reward card pointsDreamboat Thanks this. -

Most major truck carriers use Qualcomm. This does your logging for you. It requires user intervention at appropriate times and until you learn it, it will seem like a PITA but it's really simple once you understand what it is, what it does, what it does not do, and how to use it your advantage.
Once you become comfortable with Qualcomm logging, ask for some private help on how to use Qualcomm to maximum driver benefit and take advantages of it's "weaknesses" and work-arounds.
Phone calls from "dispatch" are becoming rare except in unique critical situations.
Get the largest cellular data plan you can afford, preferable ATT, or Verizon as #2 option (assuming you will be OTR or regional). Look for roll-over data if available. -
I have a year left on my unlimited data plan with Sprint. But that doesn't mean unlimited roaming. So I suspect I will be changing companies in a year. Thanks for the info on Qualcomm. Sounds good!

If I sit for more than 24 hours, I get a motel. Swimming pool. WiFi. Adult beverages. On a normal 10 hour break, I wont have time to watch Netflix. Also, you will find people that sell bootleg movies. My dislike for people has gotten me to the point to where if I have the time, I still wont go to a movie theater, because there's always some schmuck that wants to sit near me and try to add comedy relief. Or worse...put his shoes on the back of the seat I am sitting in. So, instead of spending $13 to get pissed off and the cops on me, I will buy a bootleg movie, and hold on to them until I do a 34.

That jetpack eats data like a 400lb swift driver at a buffet. Explore other options if you're gonna stream media
