It's not that they won't, it's that they can't. Daimler owns Detroit Diesel.

I would think there's a way but I'm willing to bet Daimler will want x amount of dollars to even think about it... $$ talks answer bs walks as we know it...it's also could be that what ever the amount could be paccar doesn't want to pay it..

Why would Daimler want to sell their engine and powertrain to paccar? They would lose alot of sales of freightliner trucks to paccar. Most of us here would want a Detroit engine in a kw or pete.

    mxpx148 and PoleCrusher Thank this.

Save your 5k you could wind up with a lemon the could be so problematic you just walk away. I'm talking about the motor not the truck. There has been several people that have had issues that even kw couldn't figure out.
When I came back to sni i asked my sfi rep how many of his clients were still having issues.
His response was just take another crapcadia lol.
All this isn't to say you'll be one of the few that won't have an onslaught of issues just something to think about. I completely understand wanting a better truck these crapcadias ride like crap. It's literally about the same as riding in a spring ride

    HarleyKen and mxpx148 Thank this.

They wouldn't lose as much as you think...many fleets would still buy freightliners like they always have...

I don't see where the newer Detroits are any better.
I have always liked them but the DD15 seems to be problematic with doser valves and other after treatment systems.
I know all the new trucks have this just saying Detroit isn't immune.

As far as sticking a Detroit in other frames..they use to do that back in the day.
I have no idea why they stopped..probably making deals with the truck builders.
Paccar is Peterbilt/KW's in house engine so I get that..it's still a turd.
The I had one that didn't give me too much grief..had a 162k on it when my lease was up.
    I believe I dodged a bullet.

So you got a Volvo 780? My rep told me they only had one left and aren't getting any more this year.
