Shaffer , anybody drive for them??? miles & lanes?

    we got a msg last week..said hazmat was no longer required....but if you got one....the would give you $100 when you renewed it...Here is Crete posting on their facebook page.................................................................................................................................................................................... We are excited to announce that we no longer require drivers to acquire their HazMat Certification. However, we will continue to reimburse those drivers interested in obtaining it.

    might have lied... i know, that very rarely happens but it does....
    Worked there in 06, made decent money, but will never work there again

    Not much of an advantage to reefer unless you find a dedicated account that will keep you relatively local. Or the extra penny per mile for Shaffer drivers versus Crete drivers. You'll get more miles on the dry side and because of where you live (close to a terminal and in an area with a decent amount of freight) you should be able to get home pretty easy. And you'll probably still get the occasional reefer load even as a Crete driver (I've done 5 or so over the last year). So yeah, I'd strongly suggest Crete over Shaffer.

    i'm going with Shaffer
    if things suck I might switch back to the dry side
