I don't know about that, but I know Swift and Central were owned by the same guy and they finally merged and became one company. Would have considered Central if this had never happened.

That's weird, neither myself nor my 2 other company driver trucking buddies who have all been here going on 2yrs have ever heard a peep about leasing at all.
Smells like a fresh batch of the same old uninformed truckstop bravo sierra....

If you are solo company driver at prime, you will most likely stay east of Iowa 90% of the time.
Does not mean you won't get out there but the bulk of solo freight happens on the eastern half, unless you are on a dedicated California local or something like that where you pretty much pu loads to drop for otr & pu dropped loads & deliver them, with an occasional run to Oregon/Nevada/Arizona.
Hope you like LA/sac town & everything in between.

2600-2800miles OTR is a good average if you don't whine about an occasional crap run, don't pop attitude, keep your fuel milage up, & net fuel cost down.

I like to work at a slower/consistant pace & to keep my hours & run about 9hrs a day when permissible - I averaged around 2500 mi a week.
My buddy with the same FM ran every second out his day & averaged 3000 miles.

The dude above has a point though - JBS,Tyson,Cargill all have more consistent runs plus priority unload or drop & hook hub to hub. Outside carriers get to wait a lot, especially for meat loads, & that is around 70% of what I hauled while solo company. Still better then produce....

I would be VERY suprised if you made more working for a common carrier vs a company with a private fleet.
It would probably be greener over at prime then what it sounds like you are doing, & you can join us looking over the next fence at the jbs/Tyson/cargill/kraft/nestle/penske/ryder drivers that are leaning over the fence envying the walmart/firestone/ups/ups freight/fedex freight/estes/linde/air liquide/airgas etc drivers paychecks & hometime.

If what was said here is actually true, I'm definitely going to pass on Prime

I don't envy any company's hometime. I stay out for months at a time by choice. Hometime is the least of my concerns when it comes to choosing a company.

Drove for Shaffer...Guy is right, you will get a lot of Northeast runs. I was mainly Midwest. Spent most of my time on I70. They have good and bad. Benefits good, but premiums high especially if you have a family. Don't know much bout Prime except governed at 55.

Prime company trucks are set at 62. they have been known to set them at 55 if the driver has problems with fuel mileage.

Actually, Prime graduated their drivers up to 61mph now for lease purchase. I was talking to a Prime driver out in Kansas on I-70 past the Kansas turnpike. It was a Pilot Truckstop. I think it was at exit 252 in Kansas, if I am not mistaken.
