Well yea they get paid for it, but there are BS people in this world and then there are the sincere. Not everyone fishing for a referral is full of BS. I talk highly of this company and I am not fishing: I don't work for them. But if someone wants to get a referral from my husband I will jump for them. That's money in our pocket for something someone was already going to do. Nothing wrong with referral pays. Not everyone out there is lying for money. Not lashing at you, just stating there are honest people out there.

I agree, but it's my husband that works for them. Great company! He's been there just under a year. And this is the best company he's worked for. He's been truckin' for 10 yrs. You can't beat the free insurance either!

Sharkey Transportation - free insurance ( you only get what you pay for ) my wife got sick while we were in Indy & I took her to the Hospital there . We got what you will get someday , a very large bill that Sharkey's FREE insurance does not cover !
We were there over 2 years , the first year was fantastic , a couple bad loads , but what - the -hey . The second year was all #### , had to fight for alot of things , like a 3 day lay-over south of Detroit & they only paid one day ! It was thier fault we were stuck there , the dispatcher I had , I told him more than 5 times I would not make the appointment . See they stack like 4 loads on you & then asked what my (ETA) to the reciever of load #4 was going to be ! Every time I told him I would not be there at that time he just kept saying " keep going " so we did ! Thats when the BS hit the fan , we arrived at the customer a couple hours late (Sams Club) & they refused the load (cereal) so we went to a truckstop after calling in . Dispatch said customer service will get right on it , this was Friday morning at 8am after a few calls back & forth to Sharkey & long waits inbetween calls it soon became 5pm . All they said was call us back in the morning , and we did , all we heard was we are re-scheduling the load for Monday morning @ 8am !! We thendiscussed lay-over pay , the norm is $75/day , they asked what it would take forme to stay under the load , we agreed on $125 . The only thing was they only paid for 1 of the 3 days , so calling them back & arguing over it got me the original $75/day !! So "semitruckwife" if you do not drive do not speak about the companies , odds are there are alot of things going on you would never hear about !!
The "Garage" where no matter what you sit & wait ! If you need to bring your truck in for service or repairs , you sit & wait ! When the sitting & waiting is over , they expect you to use that time as your bunk time , even though you had nowhere to sleep ! I sat in the "Drivers Lounge" over 12 hours waiting , we were under a load , when the repairs were complete the next morning , I was told my name came-up in the computer for a "at random drug test" , I was awake for more than 24 hours & now had to go to the place uptown & take a piss-test ! This happened more than once & always while you were there , funny how thier computer works !!
I really hate when a drivers wife talks for him !! Because like I said , they go or do things the wife would not know about , like over-streching the log time to make delivery or paying an over-weight ticket because the only "CAT" scale between you & the consignee was broke & you could not weigh before the scale house !! They are a "local" company if you live where they are located , but they haul over - the - road !
Sharkey drivers get NO paid holidays & NO vacation paid , where as the 2 sister companies ( Core & Sisbro) do get both . Sounds bad enough to me ! So quit trying to whitewash a crappy Green & Yellow Mack to the world!!:biggrin_25521:

I know what my husband goes through on a daily bases. And alot of the things you said are true with alot of companies. Don't tell me you have found the holy grail of trucking companies. You're whining about BS that happens to everyone once in awhile. And never have they made my husband wait 12 hours when under a load and then expect him to deliver it over getting his truck serviced. If you had a pair you would have told them to F off. You must have had a lack of communication with your dispatcher. As for Core & Sisbro the pay is not as good. And for what little vacation, and holiday pay, doesn't add up to the amount of insurance you get with Sharkey. So don't jump on me and say I don't know what I'm talking about. I KNOW WHAT MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN THROUGH. And Sharkey is one of the best companies he has worked for. And I'm proud to say I'm a TRUCKER WIFE!

Inusrance is just like any other companies insurance. Sharkey just pays the premium. You still have to pay your co pays at the doctors office. DUH! Every trucking company is going to have some sort of quarks. Good luck finding a perfect trucking company. But there again, you haven't quit, either, have you? The "garage and sit time" is where ever they decide to do it at 20k miles. But what you have failed to tell everyone, is that your "bunk time" happens in a hotel room. No we don't have a paid vacation. But what we sacrificed to gain the compliance bonus. The compliance bones is that if we do not get any log book violations. We get a $3800 bonus for the year. But we get paid for that every 3 months. So every 3 months we get an $800 bonus. We can take all the time off we need. SO really you could take off every 3 months along with your compliance bonus. Wouldn't that be viewed as "paid time off?" As un happy as you are, you sure aren't working anywhere else are you? LMAO! All I hear you complain about is : "having to get your truck serviced, taking drug tests, running late." Sounds like a left door issue to me.

If it was a company problem, you should would have hit the road by now. Because NO ONE has those type of issue out there do they?

@ Short cut - outside of first coming to Sharkey , I have never had them pay for a hotel room or did they ever offer to ! While at the shop they expect drivers to sleep in the bunkroom !! As for thier "Compliance Bonus" a driver has to be a total suck_ss to get that . I have been OTR long enough to know all the In's & Out's , I have seen many drivers at Sharkey & I tell you alot of them are happy there , that is because they can not find any other company that would hire them ! You sound just like a couple other drivers I talked to while there , brainwashed !! I have had 2 almost perfect trucking jobs & I know that no-company is PERFECT only an IDIOT would think any trucking company was !! For me Sharkey is or was not - maybe for you they are ! I'll just leave it at this ! Good luck truckin' !

I guess all I can say to you is "Good luck" hopefully Sharkey treats him better then we were treated ! Our first year was very nice there , it was the second year that all the BULL started & a couple other drivers there told me the same happened to them !
Until the last couple years I was always proud of trucking , but with all the "Alien" drivers & non-caring companies that promise a driver everything & actually give nothing , well I guess 30 years of BS & I just got tired ! So , best of luck to you & yours !!

I do not tell any tall tales , maybe you have had better luck then most ! In 2.5 years there , I never hit any bonus they were almost impossible to get ! As for the idol bonus , screw it if I have to live in a truck for 5.5 days I will be temp comfortable doing it ! And your math needs to be checked , last time I multiplied 4 x 800 = 3200 !! You do sound alot more like a recruiter than a driver ! Good luck working for them , whatever your job description is !!

This is FEB-DEC. Just bonus money, only. AFTER TAXES.

    comp idle
    $618 $184
    $590 $188
    $260 $196
    $179
This is just 1 year . The $260 was a comp bonus of only 1month and 2 weeks. And has yet to receive the last quarter comp bonus. I'm done slinging the mud with you Outlaw. You must be an outlaw to have never received these bonuses. And trust me he idles his truck to be comfortable. Do the math!
We have $2215 more in our pockets than you I guess. Oh, and one idle bonus he wasn't there long enough to get! That's AFTER taxes! And I agree with SHORTCUT. Don't work here, more money for us!

It's obvious he still wants to work here. Why else would you look up an old company you used to work for. Wake up an old thread and start an argument of "why would you listen to a driver that wants to make money off of you going to work there?" If your long gone, treated so bad, then why awaken an old thread to complain to people who are happy here? If you want to come back to work, just call recruiting. If they'll take you back. I find, that most drivers who no longer work here were let go for safety reasons. It's that simple.

Well, that's not rocket science! I want my free money! If your coming to work here. Put me down. I don't get that money until you've been here 90 days. So we both get what we want. The job you want and a little money in my pocket.

But I'm with ya, stay away. More money for us.
