Was she the driver? She knew exactly how to pull herself into the cab and set the brake in seconds. Reacted as soon as she saw it moving.

The part about hanging on helplessly reminds me of my dad’s mechanic shop. He had lifts that were drive up ramp style, and every time a new guy let a vehicle down in neutral and it started to roll their instinct was to grab the car and hang on. It dragged them out with it every time. There was a big enough parking lot that it never caused any major issues, but it sure scared some new hired hands.
