What a great post. Although I have compassion for anyone losing a job, I have more compassion for the people who depended on them who felt they were not valued. I have owned three companies and managed a lot of people. One thing you can never do is train people to care. They either do or they don't and no amount of customer service training will change that. They will revert back to who they are as soon as you are not looking. We really like this company and have been very impressed by nearly everyone we have dealt with. It is evident to me that caring about the drivers is not just lip service to this company. They know they are not perfect and they continue to try to improve. I am sure this move put a lot of stress on the remaining FM's which the new phone system is not helping with either. They now can have up to seven callers on hold and they are feeling like they can never catch up. I told my FM that it is way better for me. I would rather be on hold for an hour than have to try and call 30 times and get a busy signal. He had no idea we were having to do that.

I agree with you 100% Craig.... Your experience as a business owner is a value to us drivers, and the company we drive for. I personally respect the fact that you and your wife visit this forum, as aften as you do. You are a great motivator, with strong influence and most of all, you provide competition for us future Husband/Wife teams....LOL
mtnMoma Thanks this. -
Well another student down,,,THANK GOD! I Love my life as a Truck Driver, a freight relocator, a merchandise mover,,,whatever you want to call it, I love doing it! I now know, that as a man that loves doing what I do, it does not go with training! I will however, train my wife, if she will allow me the privilage to do so, and that will be the last...LOL I picture myself maybe one day teaching a class but that is a long shot...LOL
mtnMoma Thanks this. -
well done sheepdog

I gotta say, I do not like the Forced Dispatch at all! Makes me work even harder to get my own truck. I don't have a problem going wherever they send me but I am NOT a night driver and get tired of support shift giving me those loads that pickup at Midnight and deliver 10 hrs later. My day FM, Brian Hobbs is Great and does not do this to me. Now, I stay up all day, cause I have a hard time sleeping, and than will have to drive most of the night tonight, 300 miles. Than park at Markham for a few hours just to get up again and make delivery by noon tomorrow. I will take one for the team, no problem but when I get treated like a POS, I get a little upset. I feel better now,,,thanks for listening.

No apologies needed......I know exactly how you feel....I hate running nights because I can't sleep in the daytime either.
The Challenger, mtnMoma and SheepDog Thank this. -
so sheepdog are you telling us that you are going to make your wife drive nites.....?
mtnMoma Thanks this. -
If she is like me, she may have a word or two on that LOL. Craig and I have settled on a two to two schedule. Basically that makes it so he doesn't have those miserable hours. Unfortunately he still gets the yucky hours. Sheepdog I bet you are looking forward to having your wife on the road with you!!
mtnMoma, SheepDog and The Challenger Thank this. -
Yes Flood...LOL She don't mind anyway, she likes nights,,,don't ya honey?? LOL
T.Bear, I have suggested the 3 to 3 split and we will talk about it more when she gets on board for her training...LOL I drove team once with friend and we did the 12 to 12,,,and I had the nights shift,,,did not like that at all.. I am not a safe driver between 01:30 to 04:30 no matter how much sleep, rest or coffee I get. My body is just not meant for that shift. That being said, I can do it once in a while, for the customer, if needed. I found when I was dong team before, if I slept for 3 hrs after my shift and 3 hours prior to returning to my shift, I did way better but, still not safe enough for me.
Yes T.Bear, cant wait...mtnMoma Thanks this. -
Sheepdog, fantastic job here with this thread. I drove for Schneider in 99 and 00. Drove flats for Arrow until 03. Arrow is gone now, but I did love it. I see you are and engineer in the ARNG. I see they have a sapper leaders course now. Looks like a goody to me. Old 18B here and we had plenty of sappers back when I was on active duty. Lots of explosive ordinance disposal work in the Gulf in 91.
Thanks for the great posts.
