Like expecting you to drive when you have the hours to drive. There is no day/night shift, especially when you are solo.

I am a daytime driver......I work basically 0700 to 2100.....very seldom do I work nights and when I do I always get back on the day shift as quick as possible.

I don't see good at night, it's almost impossible to find the customer at night, sometimes just following the route solution at night is hard......then you throw in the fact that every time my days and nights get switched around my whole system goes in the toilet, I get headaches, I don't sleep.....so yeah, I'm a day driver.

I actually like nights too. My only problem is the first two days after we come off home time. My clock is all screwed up and I usually have to stop for a nap about 4 am. Man I love the sunrises on this job.

My body falls under the "body clock" science... I didn't choose that, it is just that way. I only need 6hrs sleep on a daily basis and can work anywhere in between 5a.m. and 12midnight, the hours in between 12 midnight and 5a.m. are not good for me to be awake. I understand where Vinsanity is coming from and USXpress but I was just stating that I don't like to drive at night, due to the safety factor involved. I can do it, but don't like to. We can move on though, wife will be the night driver in about a weeks time....

Just wanted to update all those that give a rip... Wife is doing a FANTASTIC job, even though I may come across differently to her sometimes..LOL She is like night and day comparing today to two weeks ago. Her driving is just fine, needs no more coaching. Her shifting is right where it should be at this point and actually further. She has no problem dealing with customers and being a people person. Her backing....well, it is getting way better than it was. I feel she is getting IT and by the time she upgrades, she will have it. I am very proud of her and STILL look forward to our new adventures and an awesome 2012!!

There has been a lot of talk on the FB page, about some new policy changes at USXpress. Like the Idle policy, and the Engine Brake policy. I just want to let all that give a rip know, how I feel. I feel like "hey, I have a job, these are not my trucks and as long as I am making money, I am good". LOL Seriously though, I understand some gripes but most are just not warrented. Most people complain or "beech" because they just don't get it and for some reason this is a "me me" country, and getting worse by the year. I have NEVER been a business owner but, I am not so ignorant that I don't know how to research. I have done enough research, worked at enough places, in enough industry's to know, that business owners are in business to make money,,,,not screw their employee's! I find that most the feel they have been screwed, have no concept of "personal responsability". If my spelling is off, I apologize right off...LOL I have an example of what I am talking about. Today, while at a consignee, another USXPress driver pulls in, sets up to back up to dock, opens his doors and boom! Some cases of Snapple fall to the ground. I knew right away what was going on and walked over to help him out. He had this look on his face like, "I pray no one saw that".. To make a long story short, I found out that he has only been driving since Oct and he emmediatly started blaming the company that loaded the trailer. He did not have any straps or load locks on the load and stated he was not told he needed them. I said; "was the load good before you left?" and he said "yes". I informed him that the driver is responsiable for the load from shipper to consignee. I informed him that he may need to call Claims, if the cust does not except some of the damaged murchandise and he siad; "I will quit if they make me pay for this"! I than explained, after I found out he has only been driving for 3 months, that no company will hire him once they find out, from his DAC, that he has a "OS&D" on it. He had never heard of a DAC!! I explained the best way to handle the situation, is to restack the skids and pray the customer is happy.. At worse, you will have to pay for 6 cases of "sundrop"...LOL He said; "I have never even drank the stuff"...LOL He thanked me and we proceeded to fix it so he could open the trailer doors enough to back up to the dock. I think he will be ok But this is what I am referring to; some people just don't know and I know alot of you have worked to inform and not critisize...I feel that is the better approach. God Bless

Don't get me wrong. I don't particularly like nights. Right now I do mostly days because my partner can see better at night. My last partner was nervous at night so I drove nights so we wouldn't lose any time.

My body clock has been adjusted to 10 on/10 off. Even when I'm home I start getting tired after being up 10 hours.
