Ok, my shifter has gotten super sloppy lately. It goes into gear and out just fine, so it's nothing with the gates. As i wiggle the shifter tho, i can see it wobble around on the top of the rod that comes out the top of the trans. Is there a bushing or grommet that goes where the shifter mounts to the top of the trans rod (like a ball and socket set-up maybe?). Just wondering. it's an eaton 13spd

You can buy the damper for shifter at most F/liner dealers 2 pins must be pushed out of shaft and new one replaced without removing shifter if lucky and pins are not pe on?

NOOOOOOOOO!!! Don't mess with it as long as it doesn't come out of the hole! Ya, There's a kit for Howler transmissions. We hauled bulls with 400 Cummins and 13 speeds in Peterbilts and they drove you crazy with the whine.

Take the boots off that screw to the floor.
Unhook all the air lines that go from the shifter to the trans.
Unscrew the 4 bolts that hold the shift tower to the shift cover.
    Remove from truck.
    Place on work bench.
Replace the 2 bushings in the shift tower.
    Replace the stick bushing.
    Then reverse the removal process.

I did not say it was easy, just dont try it in the truck.
There are 3 little springs under the front end of the shift tower. They should stay just fine in the shift cover. But take care to ensure they stay put. If they do pop out make sure they did not enter trans, and there is a small detent ball at the bottom. That keeps your slide in place when you are in and out of gears.

Beginning on page 18 is the shift tower and stub that you are going to be working on.
