"Dale I've heard drivers brag that they can shift with only a single push of the clutch or with out using the clutch at all, is that ok for the transmission?"
"No you can take a skillful driver or professional driver, they can make at least 80% or more shifts with out the double clutching procedure. How ever for every misshift they make it progressively causes damage to the transmission."
So one is to gather that "floating" gears does not damage the transmission missshifting does. -

Your clutch = cheap. Your transmission = not as cheap. Your knee = expensive as hell.

I have an easy solution to my jakes, theres a pause button for the cruise on the shifter that I hold down. No worry about jake shifting at all then. Otherwise I leave the jakes off until I am in my cruising gear.
