Don’t know if it’s possible with any other transmission besides the 8LL.
You can jam them in lo and you don’t need a clutch to start. in lo lo they practically fall in gear with no clutch.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
I float shift so I only need clutch for first or low gear.
I am curious about the 8LL I think I've been told they are low torque transmission rated. -
I don’t really know about that, you mean it doesn’t handle a high torque motor or produce a lot of torque? I got a c12 in my truck so it’s pretty low torque compared to some I guess.
With it in lo not even in lo lo I’ll walk right up a 25% grade dirt “road”
I don’t really know why anyone would want them though besides off road use. With this tranny and gears (4.89s) I’m at 2200 rpm at 70 mph.
It’s really nice for creeping on crappy ground when loaded where otherwise you’d hop a ton and maybe lose a driveshaft.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
The clutch in question is a Eaton 13, modern hydrolic pedal deal.
I like older stuff.
