How commonplace is it to have to deal with shippers or receivers that you’d do well not to go to unless you just started a fresh 14, lest you risk running out of hours while there?

I know of one... Amazon in Joliet, IL.
You can count on 6-8 hours at the minimum for a live unload.

I dont run in to that very much. International Paper facilities have been problematic for me.

That may be industry and commodity dependent.

Picking up produce from either Yuma or Salinas? It's almost like they give Dispatch the harvest time rather than the time when the load will be ready to ship.

Grocery distribution centers as receivers can be the same way. Did one where the third stop turned into a real fiasco because they did not have enough square footage on the dock to unload 2 of us. They ended up unloading and sorting 8 or so other trucks and put that stuff away. Then they started working the last 2. Both me and the other person where partial loads that both turned into about 50 skids each. Other driver had P&G shampoos, soaps, and other stuff. Each aroma had to go on it's own skid. Mine was candy bars but could not put the kingsize on the same skid as regulars, and no more than 2 products on a skid.

Amazon d.c.s: I planned an hour to check in -- Long line, three or more to unload, and an hour to come back and get my trailer. 5 hours or more on a good day.

Americold are so hit and miss that they also deserve a mention.

    Jewel in Melrose Park, IL.

Any live unload of a PG health/beauty product load (usually breaks down to 300 pallets).

    Most online only retailers.

    Birdseye, Darrien, WI.

I don't deal with them much, but when I do they stand out in my memory.

OMG, standing in line there is pain staking... Reminds me of why I'll never pull van or reefer again.

That place is terrible. Jewel is a union grocery store too... enough said!!!

Can't run out of hours anymore. You can stop the 14 after 2 hours.
