No, this was cheap freight. Nothing special. The pickup place was , sketchy old warehouse in the boroughs of NY. If it was like Walmart or some big corporate distribution center, I probably wouldn’t have thought about it. It was literally after they finished loading me and it was the dockworker himself came up to my truck had me do the paperwork and then he’s like, “I have to make a copy of your ID” I was like, “no” he spoke very broken English, and I understand a little bit of Spanish. And I just kept saying “no Bueno“. I was nice about it and kind of said it jokingly back to him. After that he was like let me go ask my boss if it’s OK. Guy returns five minutes later and I’m on my way.
If you’ve ever had your name and such used or stolen, you get why you are protective of this stuff. It happened to me once it took about three years to clean up that mess. The guy was buying stuff and renting an apartment in my name. Like ten years ago.
Shippers that want to copy your ID? How do you feel about it?

My teenager got a fake ID so he could buy booze , some place in China makes em , they have the hologram and bar codes etc that actually work when scanned by the restaurant,
Theirs was a Maryland drivers license .
Very well done . No one ever spotted it as fakeKB3MMX, silverspur and Chinatown Thank this. -
latter 2000 decade: I used some duct tape to cover Birth Date and Street Address PLUS scored the back side so not scannable.
Worked until I went to an Army Base yet they let me in.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Also, a nuclear power plant and a military base are the only places I've ever shown my CDL to gain access. Everyone else can only see my company ID and/or my TWIC.KB3MMX, kemosabi49 and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
November 2001; all the chemical terminals in NE NJ were going ballistic.
One of our drivers, an ex-paralegal,declined to let them photocopy his CDL and dialed his former boss on his cell phone.
They stopped trying to copy them but we immediately issued ID cards too. -

10 years ago I refused and left the plant without making a delivery.
Really stirred the pot!
It's my personal private property, my livelihood and my identification during any emergencies or evacuations.
Apparently it went to the top and was decided we would not be required to surrender or present the driver's license and showing an official company ID would suffice for a gate pass.
I try not to let anyone anywhere scan my license into their system.
Why does a liquor store, hotel or any venue need that info stored for? My dentist wanted to scan it 2 weeks ago..no thanks.
It is simply shown to verify identification or age one time...
Data breaches are way to common these days. Companies selling that info for marketing can KMA.
And if you've known anyone who has had their identity compromised or stolen you understand.silverspur and MACK E-6 Thank this. -
Now, when asked for my license, even just to look at, I show them the TWIC. So far, I've had a few that didn't want to accept it but they finally did.
No one except for law enforcement is getting my CDL handed to them.KB3MMX, RockinChair, Dennixx and 1 other person Thank this.
