I went to a TA and got 4000 dollars worth of work done to my truck I paid the bill and left. Next day i get phone call from them telling me that they forgot to add the mechanics hourly which is like 700 dollars more I dont know if should pay this since they could be making this up to just get more money out of me. they keep calling me constantly what should i do should i just pay what they say to get them off my back or should i not pay them and if so what are the consequences?
Shop trying to charge me more labor after I've paid the invoice?

What does the invoice say you were charged for?
BennysPennys, Beaver9 and Dino soar Thank this. -
...forget about ...they are ripping people off all day and night
mwhjr1988, chevyryder86, Badmon and 2 others Thank this. -
Personally I would tell them ..Sucks to be you you should have billed me on the original invoice.. Thats just me thou
If you feel quilty about it then tell them to email you a itemized break down of the labor they claim they forgot to bill you for originally because you want to review it before you agree to pay
If you or I made a mistake on our billing we would have to eat it.. they can tooBadmon, feldsforever, TripleSix and 5 others Thank this. -
Need more info. Work done, how long?

I would take this up with their corporate office directly. Something sounds fishy with the service writer.

Unless they are overcharging you for something, for instance they want to add unreasonably more labor hours to those they already charged you for , you ought to pay it. If they forgot the labor charge, then paying them is the only right thing to do.
It does not matter, what you already paid them either. I mean there are parts and labor to work on them, e.g. tires and brakes replacement is not cheap at those places but if you chose to do it there, then what else you expect?Vitkouski and RunningAces Thank this. -
Are you going to come back there to fix your truck again? If you are, then you have to ask for another itemized bill that reflects extra charges. And I would eat it.
If you are not going back there ever again, then check your invoice what they billed you on and didn't. If you feel strongly, you shouldn't be charged, then leave it.
I was quoted over 2K. I got a call something else had to be replaced. Ended up paying close to 5K.
They added a lot of labor hours. It was one mechanic working on it. I don't trust he spent that amount of time fixing my truck. I paid it though. But I don't think I'll be back. Every time I leave my truck to him, something else falls apart. That is how it was this year. Trying other place now.
Occasionally I ask for quotes before having work done. Often, the actual work comes higher. Some places might just add a few hundred more.
Other place I mentioned above could be in thousands off what I was originally quoted on. -
Those labor hours are always a mystery to me too and I guess, for them, a vast room of opportunity to swindle but a 4000 dol job on parts alone may very well require some hours. So if at $150 per hour (whatever they charge), 4 - 5 hours of labor would be about 700 dol.
Or like I said, if he was already charged for the work hours in the original bill, then yeah, some more explanations might be needed. -
People do make mistakes, ~6 hours of work needs to be explained though.
Bean Jr. and faux_maestro Thank this.
