Not true get your facts straight before you comment .. that is a A model 3406 Cat motor .. you do realize that is a mechical motor.. there are no laws Is prohibiting the use of a mechinal motor .. only in Commieforia

I still think these emission systems are not even justified because the reasoning behind them is a skew assumption.

My ram is my last diesel pickup. I got it as a mixed unit. I move a lot of heavy trailers and a 3/4th ton gaser can do it....but only just and my 579 is overkill in most cases and exoensive AF to use. And because i rarely drive i never bothered to get a second vehicle for daily use. Its also the very last of the pre def vehicles ram made. Still has an EGR never smokes gets around 13mpg empty 17 on the highway. Buddys new 2022 3500 with a smaller diesel and def gets 9mpg....on the highway and around 6 on the backroads.

Same with my pete post mod it gets around 17% better economy and as i said never smokes and frankly while its ancidotial when it had def on it i could SEE the shadows from my exhaust. Now i cant. Plus the engine doesnt seem to work nearly as hard. Also my oil went from being jet black and stinking after 10k miles to still being somewhat gold after 15k.

Honestly im not convinced that def lowers emissions by 15-20% over a well tuned engine with an EGR. Especially when you consider that i still have 80% of my system and just modding 2 parts took almost 1500 pounds off my truck ontop of my engine getting a large boost to economy. Taking the rest off is likely going to drop a good 3500+ more pounds off. That means ill be doing the equivlent of an extra what 22 loads a year? So that would be saving me a good several thousand gallons of fuel a year all on its own? Add that to what i save with the mog increase and i just cant see def rediceing emissions by THAT much.

Additionally at @Tb0n3 your correct. It does effect everyone around me. But so do all the trucks spewing that nasty grey smoke. Why is it OK for them to spew toxic #### into the air which makes me and many others here ill and can cause chemical burns in some extreme cases but my truck which doesnt smoke, doesnt smell, and doesnt hurt anyone on its own is not? i see this #### literally daily and that stuff makes my eyes burn and leaves me gasping for breath for HOURS afterwards if i breath it in. Hell even a truck doing a "normal" regen makes me feel ill from that nasty gas it puts off and i have woken up more then once with my 4 gas going off and me chokeing when one pops off beside me.

And while i agree rolling coal is disgusting and honestly pisses me off because THAT is what people think of when they think pre emissions or deleted.....that is simply not the case. Rolling coal is people who have poorly tuned engines or something wrong or are trying to piss people off. Hell the ONLY time my truck has EVER smoked was when i blew my turbo. And a new def truck woulda smoked too.

And dont give me that B.S line that def is non toxic. Sure right out of the jug its basically horse piss. But salt peter, sulfur and charcoal are all individually entirely safe to the point you more or less need to huff them to hurt yourself and in small doses are actully full of chemicals and minerals GOOD for you. However, mix them right and well gunpowder then boom. Same with def, when it reacts with the SCR it produces ammonia in harmful amounts and there are some euro studys that are raiseing alarms it may also be making chlorine at the same time among many other toxic chemicals that make poison gas plumes that are collectivly WORSE for the enviroment. Others have covered all this already though.

As others have said as well. There are better ways to reduce pollution. Say removing lead from aircraft fuel, or helping developing countrys move to better more efficent designs. Cracking down on trash burning, tire burning or literally thousands of other little things.

The biggest problem with def though is how unreliable and expensive they are. Hell they have such bad uptime unless you are anal to the point of parinoia on maintaince and even then thats no assurance. So much so that many places have many more trucks then they need to cover the inevtible down time. Remimber all the thousands of small companys that went belly up with def? There was a reason for it. Hell even today many go belly up with emissions issues.

So yes your "its bad if it affects everyone else" argument goes both ways. Because your forceing this #### and removing options to deal with it is putting people on the streets. Killing jobs and in general making the cost of living far higher then many better alternitives would. So right back at you. Welcome to reality.

Thats my opinion anywho and it with a bent wooden nickle may get you some coffee.

I still have to get it back together. Its been sitting wrapped in plastic and smothered in assembly lube the last 3.5 years. Just need to get around to getting the head rebuilt.

Whoopie. A mechanical motor. Yeah, back in those days we couldn't see for all the black smoke. Not. Rolling coal is different from a slight puff of black smoke when the mech pump isn't quite right for the RPM. Rolling coal will get you a ticket in your old pile just the same as a new truck doing the same. It's being a complete ######## to other people when you could do otherwise.

Gale Banks has been beating the “no smoke” drum for years. There’s definitely a proper way to do it, but, the uneducated don’t care to grasp the concept, because all the instruments and testing costs huge money. They rather just throw fuel at everything.

Guy who did mine spent a week fine tuneing it and got it just right he takes a lot of pride in them and is one of those gotta know a guy who knows a guy type people. It runs a lot smoother and while it still vibrates when running it does so far less and ontop of that has a lot flatter and smoother acceleration. Unless you drove it before and after its hard to explain but the truck is just so much smoother. Its also much quieter as well......still a paccar though and i still dispise this engine but it went from pinto with C4 studded with vials of nitro glycerine strapped to the trunk, crossed with a ford exploder with firestones, as well as a bath salted rabid bear with a long thick and barbed electroprod set to max rammed up its secondary love hole and told it will only have said prod turned off if it eats YOU sitting in the passenger seat levels of screw this.....to mostly useable.
