maybe like renting an apartment, drivers ought to put up a security/cleaning deposit, in which monies can be drawn against that account to take care of the stupid crap drivers do, just like renters?
Should a driver pay for leaving their keys inside the truck?

Exactly how is working as a truck driver in any way equivalent to renting an apartment?
-
How many union drivers make less than non-union drivers? Whatever results in drivers getting more pay and benefits is what I consider “good”.
-
True and the driver screwed up but it’s the owner of the company that decided to buy a truck that you can lock yourself out of. If the employer had purchased a Volvo this wouldn’t be an issue.

Somebody who is simple minded really thinks that a “ boss” buys a truck puts a driver in it and gets rich. They really have no idea man. I choose not to argue with people who only have worked for others and never been on their own.
You locked yourself out.. why the heck should I pay for your mess up? Where is this logic coming from with these guys. At times most of the time they make more money after expenses than the boss doesspyder7723, KANSAS TRANSIT and haycarter Thank this. -
thats on the driver... He locked himself out he should foot the bill. Or he can walk around and ask other drivers that have the same make of truck as him to try thier key in his door... Most truck manufactures only use 12 or so different keys unless truck is specifically ordered with a 1 of a kind key. Companies generally dont pay the extra for such options.
I thought that this was so much BS until I sat down with the huge shop key ring at my company... I found 4 frieghtliner trucks that used the same key out of 35 or so trucks.
Myself I have 2 keys for my truck... 1 NEVER leaves the ignition, the other is either clipped to my belt or sitting with my belt while I'm showering.KANSAS TRANSIT and buddyd157 Thank this. -
Exactly.
There would be some person coming in here talking about how he was fired from some job, and they list locking keys in truck as an accident/incident, on the DAC...etc. Then of course, the response would be, “Wait for @Chinatown ”and Carolina Cargo!
Which costs more...the $70 for a locksmith, the buying of a spare door key, or that 1500 mile bus ride back home? Regardless of who owns the truck, when you screw up, you will pay for it one way or another. You guys demanding that your hands be held by the office jocks, be careful what you wish for.Last edited: Dec 18, 2019

All these that say the company should pay are the same ones that complain that they know what they are doing and don't need someone else to tell them how to do there job.Gearjammin' Penguin, spyder7723, KANSAS TRANSIT and 4 others Thank this.

you are responsible for the rig.Cattleman84 and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this.

I refuse to accept responsibility for anyone else’s truck. Locking myself out once in awhile is just something an employer is going to have to deal with.Last edited: Dec 18, 2019
