Driver shouldn't pay for anything. If it's a company truck the company should pay all expenses.
If you hire inferior drivers fire them and get better ones.
Should a driver pay for leaving their keys inside the truck?

Freightliner keys are pretty much all the same. New to old...don't matter. I keep a key on personal car key ring just in case. I know that doesn't necessarily work for every make of truck but if you drive a m2, Columbia, or cascadia odds are the guy next to you has a key that can help you out. Same key also works in most international trucks new and old.

I had a guy the other night trying to get into my truck. He was even pounding on the door.
He was also in a Cascadia right next to me, and a fellow Swift driver, but failed to look at the number.
He did not get in. -
If my driver locked them self out I’d tell them figure it out and don’t break any windows because it’ll cost you more. Goodbye.

The simple answer to the original question is,,,,,,If you locked your keys in your personal vehicle who would pay to get it opened? Why should the company vehicle be any different?
