Should A New Driver Allow No APU/INVERTER to be a Deal Breaker?

It's not just about being comfy, without restful sleep each day/night you won't be at your best when driving. It's bad enough being new and learning the ropes, doing it when tired and fighting sleep won't be safe for you or other road users, some of which will be these very people on this thread claiming they, or you, don't need climate control etc.

Can I live without heating/AC?, sure, done it many times in the past. The difference is I wasn't getting behind the wheel of 80,000 pounds for 10 hours after struggling to get proper rest.

 

Yeah a lot of these companies won't let u idle and not mention these stupid laws have to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard If I can't have comfor on the road to make the same money I can if not more to be home and have comfort why would I wanna go otr lol I was making 7k a month bring home hauling crude oil I have a friend making 10k to 15k my problem is the oil prices fell so much that if ur a third party driver u got laid off but If u own a trucking company and can't afford to idle or have any of this stuff my opinion u should t be in business then cause u ain't making crap

 

No problem. Keep in mind that Werner has a few apus in the fleet but they are for million milers. I also forgot to add Millis Transfer (free fridge, no apu)and subtract New Century.

 

I'm thinking marten from what I have read about them will be a better deal if anyone knows anything about them I would appreciate it

 

I know that Werner has a lot of dedicated accounts and these drivers go home at the end of their shifts. These trucks don't really need APUs. But to not allow someone to have what is becoming an essential system just because they have not drove enough miles is plain wrong. They really need to find another way to honor their million milers.

 

APU's are essential if you don't have the option to idle. Never mind states that have laws against that, you know what they can do.. Truckers in the past had to get by without airconditioned bunks and the ability to power electric devices.. If you really want to play the 'back in my day we....' game, i'm sure folks from the donner party would have some words for the truckers of the 60s-90s.

 

Donner party had it easy what with their beasts of burden and invention of the wheel.
