Rerun; Your reply is certainly a slap at any former military person. I wasn't an ex-con or unemployed person. I was a proud 19 year old (isn't that still young?) when I signed up in the AFROTC program while a little skirmish was going on in SE Asia. Sometimes your remarks are very condecending be it about trucking, training, or other things. I will add your comment to this category. I'm not sure how you will wiggle away from this one. There's a ton of proud current and former military types reading these posts--me included.

You start off slow or complete an internship which can lead you into a job. I have two degrees and working on my masters now. I will most likely get laid off so I am giving trucking school a chance. I plan on taking online classes throughout

i do not have to wiggle away..you made it sound as thought the o/p had NO other option for continuing his education..why on earth should he join the military...?? he IS NOT a dead beat, habitual unemployed person or one that was "ordered into the military or face a jail sentence"...he already IS a driver, but was thinking about how he should have gotten that diploma instead....

you singed up...?? good for you...but in HIS SITUATION, why would him joining up be an option...?? i don't see it.....you gave piss poor advice on that option.

your BEST advice would have been to tell him to maybe perhaps continue his education via online courses or part time on his days off...??

condescending..?? so be it.....you did not have to read it.....

    don't like it...??

    too friggin bad for you.

    oh yeah..AF ROTC.....Air Force...???

if you WERE a man, you'd gone Army or Marines...a REAL MAN'S MILITARY.....fly boy....

Don't sweat it. I am on many forums. All of them have their fair share of internet tough guys who sole aim is to talk down to people. Usually they are pretty sad people in real life and thus use these types of forums to make up for their inadequacies. Pay them no mind. They thrive on negative attention.

You sir are an obnoxious know it all; Yeah, I was just a "fly boy" but I flew it hard and fast and was there for my buddies. How dare you question anyones manhood. You don't seem to grasp that this young man could still enjoy and learn from a military experience. I learned from mine and was proud to serve even though I was just a "fly boy". If you think USAF pilot training is such a piece of cake you should give it a try. I'm learning to drive a truck and I have a lot of respect for what they do. You could learn to respect more and a lot less "saying it as it is". BTW, I was accepted as a Marine pilot candidate but chose the USAF due to the varied aircraft they had at the time. I would have flown just as hard for them. Your comments still are demeaning to military folks. Crawl back into your hole and check your own manhood. I won't comment to you any further. Proud to be JUST a "fly boy".

Rerun is just jealous because he didn't score high enough on his
ASVAB to make it into the Air Force, if he ever even tried, or he never thought that serving his country was something he should do. He will live and enjoy all of his freedoms that so many other before him have died for, but when it comes to serving and defending his country, let somebody else do it. (Pathetic) There are many jobs in the Air Force and Navy that put you in harms way, tell all the families who have lost a loved one in the Air Force/Navy, that they are not as worthy as anyone else from the other branches of service. Rerun needs to shut his pie-hole and crawl back under the rock from where he came from. I am sick of this PUNKS iggnorant big mouth and disrepect for other people on this site. You (Rerun) are what is wrong in today's society. As far as I'm concerned, you can keep your thoughts and comments to yourself, they are not worth reading anyway.:biggrin_25516: The guy in this quote hit the nail right on the head. Rerun thinks he is a internet tough guy who knows it all. I believe he is just a sad pathetic shell of a human being who only gets people to talk to him on this site. I feel sorry for him.

And whatever your response is to this Rerun, "I WILL NOT" waste my time answering anything you have to say. Don't go away Mad, just GO AWAY!!! :biggrin_25525:

Yeah, the AF pilot program is no joke, I have to give you that! How come you didn't continue flying commercially?

Some years ago, I would have told people to avoid trucking like the plague and go to college or learn a trade.
That's when the economy was good and 2 million more manufacturing jobs were still here.
But all this outsourcing, free-trade, NAFTA, etc is killing off all kinds of jobs: blue & white collar.
Don't get me wrong, trucking for the most part BLOWS unless you can get something specialized.
For the majority: the hours suck, the pay sucks, living in a truck like a prisoner sucks.
But it's steady money...people always gotta eat, wash their hands, mow their lawns, buy presents for the kids, feed the dog, etc, etc, etc...and all of this gets moved by TRUCK no matter where it's sourced from.
The companies are ALWAYS hiring, and as long as you don't do anything really stupid, your next job is usually just a phone call away.
How many people with college degrees on unemployment for 26+ weeks can say that?
Trucking is what it is...and that's all it ever will be...but for alot of folks, it's steady $$$$$.

    U4EA and applebrown78 Thank this.
