Hey guys,
I'm a newbie on here. I had a KWT600 last year and should have kept it but now I have the chance to pick up a 2001 International 9200i for cheap with some motor issues. It has a Cat C12 in it and well I don't see any holes in the block. I am very comfortable working on cars and such. This would be my first tackle at a tractor. It went in for an oil change and then shortly there after went back and all that was reported was that the block had failed. No specifics. A family member of mine works at the company that is selling it and they really have no idea what it needs. The shop says it needs a motor but their have been trust issues with them in the past. It is a clean good looking truck with a sleeper. It has Alcoas and new front rubber. It also have two FULL 160 gallon tanks. It's only been parked for about 6 months. I can pretty much pick it up for the price of fuel and the cost of the front rubber. I would love to hear some of your thoughts.
Thanks
Joe
Should I buy 2001 International 9200i with issues?

Hope you got deep pockets if you want this running; chances are it's a money pit. Can't really say with just this limited info. But hey, you can always part it out for a profit.
-
How many miles are on it?
-
It has right at 1,000,000 miles. It's $2,500. I will post up a pic shortly. Yeah the rebuild kit is like $2,500. Yikes

It's really a clean simple truck.

What kind of tranny and rear end has it got? Jakes? Any other options?
For $2500, I'd almost be willing to take a shot at it if the rest of it is good and tight. -
Well you are giving me good questions that I need to find out tomorrow. I build race cars and my friend swears that with the right documentation he is 100% confident that I could fix this thing. I am starting to warm up to it. $2,500 is really nothing right. You can barely get a pos car for that. I purchased a box truck from this company that the repair shop said needed a motor and it didn't need anything. I think I am going to take a crack at it.

Worst case scenario (at least from my perspective, that of a non-mechanic) is that you part it out and recoup some of your investment.
Good luck, man...and please keep us posted! -
From what I can tell right now it looks like it has air ride cab, super clean inside, good airbags and brakes in back. Good rubber in back.

Looks like a sweet truck and sounds like you've got the capabilities needed. Buy it! Might be the chance of a lifetime.
