Uniden pc68 you can find at just about any truck stop. It’s cheap and it works.

    To answer the question, yes.

If you're running over the road, IMHO, yes you should have one, especially in winter. You'll get warnings about road issues, smokey hiding behind the tree, or whatever. Just turn it off when you get to the truckstop, unless you like talking at the fools there.

Well, I encourage you to get one. They van be useful especially on 2 lane highways. While I'm driving on 2 lane highways and during inclement weather is about the only time I turn mine on and use it. But, during those times, it can be very helpful.
I drive a governed rig. Set at 65mpg. I get a rig come up behind me on a 2 lane highway and I'll try to raise him on the CB. If he has it on, we can work together to let him get past me. I've seen rigs get stuck behind me for 30 miles of 2 lane when, if they had a CB on, they would have been able to get around be after half a mile.
Also, as mentioned, during inclement weather, listen to the CB and generally other truckers will warn about problems they find, such a slick spots, disabled cars, etc. Quite helpful when traveling on poor roads in yucky weather!

    Linte_Loco Thanks this.

Absolutely yes get one. Try to leave it on and tune the BS out. It may save your bacon. Many times I have been peddling along and hear someone announce traffic stopped ahead. Sure is nice to know ahead of time instead of when you see brake lights.

I use mine daily, not for common conversation but for needed info etc. Don’t buy into the hype of some phone app can give real time info that the radio can. Don’t rely on the radio to give info you really need either cause most wont turn it on till they are in the stopped traffic to see what’s going on. It’s just another tool to help get the job done

    slow.rider and nredfor88 Thank this.

Every day. Leave the squelch up so you just hear what's close to you. Saved my butt more than once. I run a Stryker 497 w/ a road king Mic. The other truck has a cobra 29. The Stryker is leaps and bounds better in sound quality
