Don’t new Volvo’s all come standard with enhanced cruise which I found to be utter garbage on a 18 volvo x15 economy with a 13 sp eaton autoshift I rented for a 3200 mile trip

Are you looking to spec a truck or get one off a lot? Pete's and KW's have a 4-6 month wait for spec trucks right now. The Pete salesman I talked too was really pushing the paccar engine. He said they've worked out the bugs seen previously, and that it weights 500 pounds less than a Cummings engine. Of course, I'm sure he had his quota to meet and is pushing Paccar trucks.

I think Paccar is pushing the Paccar.

That is why cabovers should come back. So you can have a 120 inch sleeper on a reasonable length truck. Well, except when you'd have to take it all apart to tip the cab if it ever came to that.

I went by a Volvo dealer today that had 3 new Volvos with BIG dog boxes on them.
    No time to stop.
    Wonder if that's his speciality???
Never seen that many in one place. All white.
    All looked brand new.
Wonder what one of those goes for???

Yes, the top speed is faster but the engine is turning at a lower revolution. I personally prefer lower ratios.

Lower ratio like 3.25 engine is turning slower.
That's not to say that the engine might not be working harder.

Lot's of people say a 13 liter is all you need for van or 80000 pound gross.

Well there is no replacement for displacement either. Especially when it's hill time.

Although my D13 did very well.

I typo-ed and corrected the post. With a transmission full of gears like a 13 or 18 you'd be best off with a lower ratio rear. Just split down if you're at a lower cruising speed.
