Dave, the point off going to a 13L is to have less emission issues.
With EGR and DPF you need heat is the exhaust.
The argument is that a lesser displacement engine will work more to full capacity thus keeping more heat in the system.

    I run a MX11 @96000 lbs gross when loaded (locally) .
A little over 5000 hours over the 3Y's i have owned it.
So a lot off idle time and blowertime.
My DPF filter is still at 0%.
    Never been cleaned.
Talked to my dealer about that 0% level and he says the gauge will be correct.
He expects i will easely go past 5Y without cleaning or replacing the DPF.

Time will tell ................remind me in 2 y to tell you how my DPF is doing.;)

Dave My opinion from afar is you still got a couple of good years with Casper.

Where are your thoughts on buying a trailer?
The old loose pre-loaded/Drop trailer loads v.s. revenue question.

Still think pre loaded. Some with all the extras bag nearly 80%.

Wonder what they'd say if you ask for a Great Dane Everest with a TK lol.

They will get you any dry van. ANY. So I don't see the difference for another $20K and not getting a new reefer.

The Trucking Exec on YouTube. He says the difference in cost over five years on Freightliner versus Volvo, he estimates to be in the $50K range.
If he were an O/O. He’d run Freightliner. He provides Volvo’s to attract drivers.

I love my new Volvo. My switching terminals. I’m gonna lose it. Get a Freightliner. That terminal doesn’t have a Volvo dealer within 200 miles. I’ll be very happy with a dependable Freightliner. Also with ease of service when needed anywhere.
I could ask for a Kenworth 680 he has. Not going to.
I can understand you wanting extra nice. I’d look at those Volvo’s with larger cabs you mentioned. Would be nice.
Edit: What the heck... You only live once.

3:21 gear ratio? I would have to pass on that.

Now go check out the actual cost of a KW/Pete over a Freightliner over their useful life. I don't have them right at my fingertips, however Paccar trucks have almost double the service life of a Freightliner. Over their life a Paccar tractor will save mucho bucks over a Freightliner. Don't take my word for it please. Go take a look at most any TS and look at the older trucks. You won't see many Freightliners much older then 5 or 6 years.

So this dude took a new Volvo and a new Freightliner and personally worked them for five years each, under the same conditions?

This is all totally subjective as well Moose.
SWIFT & WERENER have 2018 Freightliners with a life span of 5 or 6 days. Some are 5 or 6 hours.

Most newbs don't drive the more expensive trucks, and how it's driven and maintained are huge factors.

I could take the best truck there is, drive it only in Ohio & Indiana, where there is not even a hill let alone a mountain, and in 5 years you'd go WTF did you do to this truck??? Just because the highways are that awful.
