I find it amusing that anyone is praising Paccar as something exceptional.

Well where is this information coming from?

I could form an opinion with numbers off the Web on a 379, yet I've never set foot in one.

So I don't think my opinion would be considered 'expert'. More like just another dude on the Internet.

Im simply going by years of walking around truckstops and looking. You simply do not see near as many old Freightliners. In fact how long has it been in days since you have seen a FLD or a Century Class tractor? However you see these older Paccar and Volvos. Now I agree this is changing because to meet CAFE standards Paccar has begin to put out junk too.

One thing that you may want to look at is Dealer service centers near the lanes you run.

My opinion: I see paccar dealers every couple of hundred miles on I5/CA99. Freightliner not as many but well represented. Volvo seem to be too spread out. Memory is fading but retain the same perception for I40 and I80 (used to run out to Cincy from the west coast)

One of the reasons I ended up with the plastic bubble Pete is because there was a Pete dealer in town and a KW dealer 20 Miles north. Freightliner and Volvo were over in the Central Valley 2 hrs away. IH was in town but made it abundantly clear they were not interested in working on OTR trucks I do not consider TA/Petro actual service centers.

    Dave_in_AZ and daf105paccar Thank this.

Buying a brand according to service said brand can provide is a smart move.

If we're talking hood to hood (379EXHD vs W900L) then an advantage the Pete has over the KW is weight savings.
