Salvage status and Rebuilt status isn't about the insurance company totalling it out, it is a titling it to prevent vehicles that have been sold as salvage vehicles not sold as vehicles with no repairs ever done to it. This is a fraud prevention thing.

IF you are unsure about the damage, have it independent inspected, including to see if the frame and wheel alignment is within spec.

He is in CANADA and in Ontario the insurance companies deem the VEHICLE SALVAGEABLE . REBUILDABLE , OR PARTS ONLY and then the MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT retitles the VEHICLE accordingly. Been through it on more than 1 occasion in past 40 years up there.

not sure about ontario but in manitobia i believe trucks needs to go through a regular safety and another safety through autopac which is more strict than a regular safety ps timmys are geared pretty slow if that matters

From working in a shop. If the shop wants the vehicle they will shoot a high estimate that is more that the vehicle is worth fixing and they buy the vehicle from the insurance company for a low low price get a salvage title fix it and get the state(usually the state troopers) they reside in to inspect the vehicle and deem it safe and the state will give them a rebuilt title then they sell it

I cannot answer for Canada BUT the same terminology in the US is bad news for the buyer and the insurance co. ( here ) does care. They WONT sell you collision on a salvage vehicle......... excuse me, they won't pay but will collect the premium and the BANK also cares. Legit finance co's like Chase won't touch a salvage title...which is why they send a drafting envelope with you, so the dealer can send the title to them where they can see it before they issue payment.

Mahuck that dealer too. He has but one mission, get that cash out of your pocket and into his. He'll tell you anything you want to hear ....... Get a frame pro to take a look before you buy....... make sue it can be aligned

How much is 55k Canadian? Sounds very rich for what your getting IMO.

    Good luck and be careful

    My 2 cents....

That don't happen in Oregon. Or that would be a HUGE scam and everyone would be driving a sweet fixer upper. That's big time insurance fraud

You can't buy direct from the insurance company. You either have to go to auction .....or get the customers to hand over the title .... then you can fix the car with a clean title. Not auction though. Car fax only brings up what went through insurance policies.

There is way more to the story than they are telling you there not going to total out a 2012 truck with 55,000 miles that truck is still a $80,k truck easy I've seen trucks that new get frame rails axles and a lot more and was not a lose
