I never turned a wrench ( so to speak ) until after buying my first truck and seeing how much I was paying mechanics to "change parts" I thought it was a good time to learn

Lots of the stuff is nothing more than taking a couple bolts off and swapping the parts out.

With YouTube, this site, and other online resources I couldn't see paying someone $100+ hourly wage to change out parts. It adds up very quickly.

I'm not saying I would do a Overhaul or something more in depth as that but you will still save tons of money by doing shocks, airbags, greasing the truck, changing filters, etc etc etc on your own. Learn as you go. The money you spend on someone to change your parts out could be spent on buying the tools for your chest!!!

Either buy older and fully rebuid it, or go new. Since you can't wrench and got money, go new.

If you have lots more money after you pay cash for your brand new truck, go for it .....

Yup^^^^^^^^ what @DUNE-T said. But old rebuilt with paperwork. Way less than new junk.

I wouldn't buy new unless you're getting a glider with a 6nz or older cat, n14 cummins, or maybe I Detroit. The new stuff just seems to have too many problems after about 500k miles, unless you're going to get rid of it and get new before the warranty is done all the time.

You wouldnt turn a wrench for the first 4-5 years if you are buying new. So plenty of time to learn right?
