OK, Five years ago right out of school I was working for Werner Enterprise. after 8 months I left them to work with a owner operator thru Tri State. Before I got hired by Tri State I was let go, my drug test came back adulterated. The owner operator let me go and It went on my DAC report. I was told my truck driving career was done.
So I let my CDL go and have not been behind the wheel again.

First off. I was clean and always have been and I am sure you hear that all the time but I can pass any drug test and have passed everyone since then. Now four years later I really want to get back out on the road and start a career.

I know I will have to go back to school but my question Is will any good company hire me? I have a clean MVR. Not so good work history but It looks alot better for the last four years.
No Criminal history and the last thing to go on my DAC that I know of was from Tri State. I will be getting a copy of my DAC but I don't know what to look for.

Next question How to get money for School?? My credit Is shot. I have little money. Live paycheck to paycheck. Can't get any kind of loan.
What can I do. What should I do?? I really want to drive a truck again any advice, help or point me In the right direction would be great..

Go to your local job service and tell them you would like to apply for the WIA program (workforce investment act) they can help you if funds are avalible. Be straight with them do not tell lies or anything you may have to jump through some hoops but it will be worth it.
I got my money for school from that program I had a full thing paid for by them but the amount avalible changes daily so hurry up and get the paperwork done and find a good school.

I am not 100% sure, but I think a DAC report only goes back 7 years. That may not seem like much help, but at least you have some light at the end of the tunnel:biggrin_25512:.

Dac is seven, but most APs say ever failed a drug test. Not sure if a failed drug test comes off.

MGASSEL's advice is "spot on"! You've already taken your first, very important, step by posting on this forum. Putting your problems square on the table, cards face up, goes a long way to resolving them and placing them into their proper perspective. I’m not here to judge you, or your previous indiscretions. Your question seems genuine, so here goes.

Four (4) years of sobriety, coupled with no criminal convictions, lends me to believe you deserve a second chance. I say go for it! It might not exactly be smooth sailing, however, I suggest you take it one step at a time and in chronological order.

By way of example, prioritize each step and catapult yourself forward. As I see it, your first hurdle is the school issue, astutely pointed out by MGASSEL. During that process your past will very possibly become a matter of some discussion and concern. Should you accomplish that step, you will be much better armed with what you might expect from prospective employers. Like everyone else, Truckers aren't perfect. We all make mistakes (Oops, excluding my wife that is). It's been my experience however, that most mistakes are recoverable with the proper motivation and conviction. Ultimately, you will decide your own fate. For one, I would be happy to guide you down this path. But... your gonna have to do your homework.

First, let me know the results of your "DAC" when your receive it; second, telephonically contact the learning institution, so aptly recommended by MGASSEL, find out what they require of you, and let me know what those requirements are; and third, after succeeding in the first two steps we will move on to the next. The only thing I ask you in return, as recompense for my assistance, is that each and every step be publically posted on this forum as a learning tool for other Truckers. If you agree with the foregoing, and are willing to put your nose to the grindstone, I would be willing to bet you will be pleasantly surprised with the results. Not promising you anything though.

Look forward to your next post.

It is hard to overcome a drug test result like that. If it were me,I would write a resume or better yet have one made for you and use that true to heart resume to further yourself,, At least you have been there and done that and don't want to go backwards, who knows what the next person would be like, you are a better canidate, you have to sell yourself and get the job you want. Go for it,best of luck to you.

Is It that bad?? I have read on this and other forums and know people who have done worse and are still Driving a Truck.. I am clean. Don't have a criminal history and a spotless driver record.. What else do I need to do??
I went to my local job center and applied for the WIA program (workforce investment act). I meet the requirements for the program and I am In contact with a Truck Driver Training School. Will take about 4 weeks.
Now the BIG Question and I have seen It asked time and time again but I need some advice.
Which Company's should I apply for and will take a person with my History???
I have worked for Werner and do not want to go back but I am a newbie again so which company's treat there trainee drivers good and have good equipment and good pay??? I know no company Is perfect I just want to make some money. Be home on the weekend and have a good Truck to do It In..
And of course be treated like a person..
