Currently have an offer from Coke.
$133/day plus commission, union gig. Pay would probably be 900-1000/week working the day shift, so you'll be home for dinner. Perfect for a family man.

On the other hand, I don't have a family and I'm just not sure I want to come off the road. Besides, the old lady said I could stay OTR if her and the dog could ride with me.

So exactly how much physical labor is beverage/food? I work at a propane company del forklift cylinders at 50 lbs each, anywhere from a 100 to 180 a day 3 days a week, do bulk liquid the other two. Anybody know how that would compare? Also have to fill as many as possible at the end of the day

From my interviews at Coke (no actual experience) you're delivering 500-700 cases a day.
That's not just taking them off the truck and into the store but also stocking them on shelves, building displays, and rotating old product.

Concrete, tanker, construction supply companies, relay drivers, ltl, and local drivers will have you home every night. Regional should have you home every weekend. Otr... I didn't see my dad for his first six weeks otr then I only seen him one or two days a month. He couldn't take that and the low pay after six months and took a local job. Ryder has a seven on seven off position as well.

For $13/hr last I checked. Screw all that when I can make 50% more for slamming doors.

Probably for a smaller bottling company then.
At this location you're paid hourly if you work weekends at 19.45/hr.

That's not too bad. Still a lot more work for the same money for me but that's be great for someone out of school.

Why worry, the kid won't know you're gone until they are 2 or 3. I was on the road for the first two years of my oldest and second oldest, my wife had some hassles but with family helping, everything went well. The kids didn't care as long as they were fed and clean.
