Should I get 16 ply steers even though I don't do anything heavy duty?

What regulation would they cite? 99.9% of inspectors wouldn't notice anything out of the ordinary. With max sidewall pressure in one by the time it warms up after a few miles down the road it will show more psi anyway.

When I had an international cab over with the set back steer axle , I had 12k on the steers even when bobtailing .

and it always felt squishy and just not right .

I tried lots of different tires and wound up using some tires designed for the front loader dumpster trucks .

Just to be clear, the tire itself says nothing about maximum air pressure.
It says maximum load at the posted minimum air pressure.
It’s the rim itself that has a maximum air pressure allowed.

16 ply Michelins only, 128 psi, because I can’t quite get 130 out of the old shop compressor, last set I had went 150k and I pulled them off with about 40% to put on one of the farm trucks that only sees about 3-4K a year, they are still on there

Same here, the only other tire that lasts over 150k is Yoko 101zl. Few months ago it was only $500

    Why 115? I run 120 on 16 ply mich....?

Love my mich, 16 ply, 40k I think so far, rolls easy, no missing chunks. I run the trailer up on the bunk for mpg, 12,300 front axle typically even if not loaded much.

I believe on the 16 ply Michelin's the minimum sidewall psi is 120.

The reasoning behind the 10 over sidewall psi, is that makes a stiffer tire and reduces sidewall flex which causes heat and uneven tire wear. Braking transfers more weight to the steers, and if you're running the minimum sidewall psi, then you are overloading the steers causing increased sidewall flexing.

Because that's what works for me. Then again I'm never over 12k on front axle right now haven't been in years. Now once I start hauling over 12k again on my front axle I will prob bump up to 120-125
