My nephew made $35k his first year as a company driver .
In year 4 he made $98k, he gets paid 20% of the gross to the truck , and averages 88 cents a mile driving the company’s brand new W-900 and home every weekend and took off almost 8 weeks ,

and the truck payment insurance maintenance permits etc etc etc are all someone else’s problems

company he worked for pays $550 a week when they don’t have any work ,
And some weeks they don’t , because the company does regional heavy haul and gets paid $x per mile or they don’t crank the truck . And they don’t work off of load boards and the company will deadhead empty for free before they use a broker .
They never use a broker .
They do direct freight for their niche customers and come back home .

there are companies that pay good money and have top notch trucks .

Once you have a year or two of experience you can land a good job at a good company and make $100k

You might do well as an evangelical preacher.
Or any of those self-help and self-affirming types.

(Note to self, and to Frank. Yes, I do see the sarcasm...)

Frank Speak and Lonesome Thank this.
