I applied at a flat bed company several years ago. When I went to orientation, they had their doc do the DOT physicals. He saw a scar on my shoulder from a surgery I had when I was 16. He reported it to the company and they sent me home that same day.

Wow. Can't believe you guys are the first to really warn me of this. I mean I guess I was a little naive, but I told people along the way, my instructors, my work counselor... Wtf?

Not a clue. Stretching and exercise works best. That being said, when I bike a lot, my knee will hurt a lot more than usual, so anything more than about 15 miles a day is out, but that's on top of walking 4 miles as well.

Same with my shoulder. Whatever is loose in their presses on a nerve, a big nerve lol, and after pushups in the high 30's it will ache, try to do 3 sets of 50. It will get numb when I sleep on it.

So there are limits, but I take a few Tylenol a few times a week if it's really hurting. It's worse in the winter.

Still have the screws in my legs. If you don't stretch & exercise your injuries, you will get arthritis BAD.

Many years ago, certain Teamster locals required a lower back x-ray before employment. My PIE local did,CF didn't.Guess they didn't want to pay for previous injuries.

Nope not even close.Every company has their own physical performed by their own doctor which many insurance companies require.Your employer is flatbed so their physical may be more strenuous then van.

Absolutely the only thing that works for me is pt/exercise (and the occasional Advil). After about a month of nothing, muscles get weak and joints get loose. Especially in the shoulders. Push-ups and pull-ups work pretty well for me. Pull-ups help with the back as well.
