Hello and thanks in advance for reading this. I am thinking of going to a state certified school for a CDL, but i have a speeding ticket for 15-25mph over the limit last year, and a misdemeanor for theft under 300, last year also. thats it, i have a good work history. before you post, i have made some bad mistakes that have caused me alot of problems. i am a better person, prior to this charge, i haven't done anything wrong. i am 26 and have a family of three. i just wanted to know if i am wasting my time with going to school, and attempting to get a trucking job. i know i can get my CDL, but does anyone know of a company that would hire me? thanks
should i look for something else?

Not right now, no. The answer would probably be the same if it were only either one of those. If the CDL will be paid for then go ahead. If you're paying out of pocket then don't.
If you can find a friend or contact with a truck or something that will take you on, that would be about the only way.
There are lots here in your shoes and they have been asking for a while. If any of them find anything, they never seem to come back and say what or where, so I have to assume they've given up. -
Both of those are serious charges in trucking. I would say to pass on the CDL.

Listen to the smoking monkey. you will be wasting your time in getting a cdl right now. i don't see any company touching you for a job with that record. sorry.
