Once i had my truck brought to kw dealer because it was loosing power for 5-7sec when going uphill . They diagnosed the problem and gave me estimate for new ECM with programming and installation around 4200 , i authorized repairs and after picking up the truck driver immediately reported other problem - truck was shutting down 2-3 times a day ( uphill , downhill , flat , loaded , empty ) , brought truck back and dealer ensured me that his newly certified mechanic did figure out what the problem is ( there is 1 wire was missing to the ecm ... I said how the truck was running last 2 years i had it without issues , dealer said ecm was overheating and causing issues blablabla BS ) and it is going to cost me whopping 1300 to run extra wire to the ecm . Job done - nothing changed . I called the dealer and he offered me to bring the truck and have it there till repaired at $150per hour ... I argued that they never diagnosed thr issue and i am not sure that they will be able to fix it even if i spend another 10k there .... I did chargeback on my card and dealer brought me to the court requesting pay the bill plus around 20k in its attorney fees , i spent around $1500 for attorney and case was dismissed
The problem was wires to the ECM ...whoever did them - Mickey mouse job ...costed me $250 to redo it at other shop. ...
I admit having 2 problems in trucking - drivers and mechanics , second issue so far so good for last 2 years ...it doesnt matter dealer or not - same people pretending being mechanics
Should I pay a shop twice if they didn't fix my problem?

I had another instance where I was having trouble getting the engine to turn on. I spent several hundreds of dollars at the dealer, and it didn’t solve the problem. I refused to have them work on it again. I replaced the starter myself and problem solved.Rideandrepair, shatteredsquare, baha and 1 other person Thank this. -
I wish i could work on my truck but biggest jobs i accomplished is replacing turbo and installing headache rack and boxes ... I understand mechanically pretty much most of it but i refuse to work on it worrying to break something ( gonna cost hundreds to tow it after to the shop ) , buying tools plus you have to be a strongman to move truck parts around . But at the same time i replaced engine on my bmw as well as full interior and did dpf/egr delete on my new pick up truck !

Very little accountability with shops these days .
Sorry give us more money and well try again .
After 10 months of pitching money at my after treatment system and over 7 grand i said heck with it and had it deleted .Rideandrepair, BUMBACLADWAR and PE_T Thank this. -
The other point is to work on it during a 34-hr restart and preferably not under a load.Rideandrepair and bzinger Thank this. -
i thought with those epa trucks, that is the norm. Have it diagnosed and then fixed, then back in for the same problem months or weeks later and pay again. Thats why ill keep rebuilding my old truck when it needs it.
