About a year ago I hit a deer while driving my personal vehicle, totally unpreventable. The deer got up and ran off and I drove home. There was significant damage to my vehicle, so I filed an insurance claim and they promptly took care of it. There is no record of this incident on my motor vehicle record - I checked it today. Should I report this on applications for driving jobs where they ask for a listing of all "accidents/incidents" ?
Should I report deer strike incident on job applications?

Accidents and Incidents are in trucks (CMV), not in your car. So no, I would not report to them.

A deer ran out in front of you and there was no way to avoid it? You're chopped liver now!

That' a sure hit and run! If you didn't get his/her tag # (usually located just under the white center point) and there's no video footage, don't say a word....
What happens in the sticks......STAYS in the sticks!
(In all seriousness, there is no need nor any good reason to say a word about it...) -
Carriers are just as concerned about your car accident history as they are your CMV accident history. In fact, in the case of new drivers, that's ALL they're interested in, obviously.
But I understand in the poster's case there was no accident report filed, so no, don't mention it.Last edited: Dec 12, 2014
