Ya ive been thinking a lot about that becuase ive seen how things have been done with the truck i drive which has been half fast from tires to when the engine had a ####ed up cylinder still sent me out on trips thinking it was an injector when it was obvious it was more blew the engine they were lucky the block was saved but could have been worst

Ya i was thining the same thing that i was risking more with they truck no matter what work was done to it than getting something a bit newer and with less miles with no engine work done and since i live in California that truck wasnt going to be allowed much longer due to the emissions crap and he has been ok to work for but looks like ill be leaving too i feel im not getting as much out of here was i thought i would be work wise

The trucks a 2008 cascadia with a detroit series 60 14L he selling go me for 20k and 25k if i use his permits and he did a full infame and the clutch and a few other things he dropped like 16k into it last month lease agreement would be 8k down and the rest in monthly payments probably between 1-1.7k a month on top of paying for 1000 for his insurance 16dlls for prepass and 200 for parking at the yard truck condition is in decent shape for a cascadia been a while since ive driven it might need tires considering he puts on cheap bridgestones he can regroove when they get down to the min tread

Ayavia777 Just for a comparison.. Ive been doing some shopping the last year or so for a spare project truck..these 2 are what I remember well.. I looked at a 96 pete 379 with a mid roof 3406 / 100000 on a home shop in frame & 18 speed it had 1.8 million and was let's say less than pretty and needed work.. he wanted 30k.. I watched it sell the other day on Auction Time for 19,800
The other is a 96 KW T600 with a studio sleeper & N14 red top/ 9 speed and 680,000 miles.. was a bed buggers truck it has all the maintenence records from 1 day and been well taken care of the guy is asking 21,000.. but I bet 18k will do it... so thats just a comparison for you as to what your boss is offering you...
If It was me I would just tell my boss ...Ummm no Thank You I'am short on cash & I'would much rather keep driving for a paycheck right now .. That's probably not the words I would use .. but thats probably why there will be alot of empty seats at my funeral

Offer him 0 down, and payments based on % of what the truck makes.

Sounds like a fair enough deal to Me. Would be better if less money down, keeping as much as possible for repairs. Bad Credit can’t be choosy. Rather see you buy it outright. Price of Truck should be the same either way. Free parking would be nice. Bull gear with 800k should be good for at least another 200k. Detroit suggests 750k. for a 12.7 New 14L has the new compact design, they weren’t known for going bad.I just changed my original Bull Gear on my 12.7 at 2.3 million. It was still good, no play in it. You can check it for play, by pulling the acess cover, and using a prybar. It’s probably just fine though. If it’s something you want to do, maybe offer 0 dn and free parking. Then settle in the middle, at $4k dn and $100 mo parking. Considering 16k spent on OH, Price seems fair enough. Biggest cost is an inframe. Other items, trans, rears, or bullgear failure shouldn’t be more than 5k. Just keep an eye and an ear on the bull gear. Usually starts rattling or inconsistently thumping before it goes out, so I’ve been told. Then it’s a catastrophic event. Stripped out gears, bent valves, towing bill. By the way there’s no such thing as cheap Bridgestones. Lol.

If that truck was as meticulously maintained as my 13 cascadia is with close to a million on it I might buy it for the right price and terms but at 1.8 mil with an owner that is cheap on maintenance and probably not into pro active component replacement I would be scared of it unless it was dirt cheap .
That 200 bucks to park says something about your bosses motives too.
Those 14 liter detriots were known for really lousy fuel milage also.
I won't say yay or nay but the odds are against you in the long term .
